Any help must appreciated a customer brought his fiat to me after going to several garages and I've changed everything on it and it still cuts out when hot and have to wait til it cools down to restart the fault is saying small fuel leak but I can't see this as I've done everything I can think of, any suggestions please :)

The usual suspect is the TDC (or crank) sensor. They tend to crack with age and when hot they go all post natal and fail.

If that has been changed, the temp sensor is the next suspect on the list, but it would show up as a warning on the dash (if it is around 2003/4 onwards) of overheat.

However, if it is showing a fuel leak on the fault code reader, this suggests a pressure drop if no actual leak is found.

Have you checked the fuel pressure sensor on the common rail (I assume it is a JTD....)

Another queer fault with the 8v is the injector plug connectors can go a bit high resistance, giving starting problems. Injector No3 is the worst culprit for some strange reason.

You need to check the tiny metal female connections on the plug are tight.

IF, however, this vehicle is a 1.9 non turbo from around 2000/2003, it is a very real possibility the pump itself is at fault. They somehow manage to lose the ability to stay "timed" (rotor sensors go bye bye) and simply will not start.

Hope this helps.

same here with 1.9 no turbo, starts first time, , when warmed up cuts out when throttle off, at junctions etc. will always restart, if left to idle will do so for 5-10 minutes before rough idle then revs up and cuts out, again will restart. drives fine other than idling. throwing up codes p0510 flow modification throttle, p0252 rotor position check. recent replaced ignition barrel ( non doblo but same type) coincidence? tried all usual suspects except lucas epic. :bang: I am a new member to site so hello to everyone. I own a 1.3 jtd and have owned 2 other 1.3 vans.

Hello, and welcome to FF,:)
pretty sure the P0252 is pump related,

how many miles on van / engine:confused:

Hi guys thanku for your response it's now fixed after changing the pump, cam censor crank censor, high pressure pump, fuel filter, ecu, earth strap from battery to gear box, high pressure fuel censor cost ££££ but after a diesel specialist couldn't find a fault I'm pleased after looking on this forum I managed to mend it, cheers ady

ok Charlie, the van is a 51plate 1.9 (import) non turbo, with 65,500miles on the clock. trying to help out a friend, I have experience with the 1.3jtd only, (buy them with timing chain/tensioner/turbo issues and fix them.) I can get a used pump from local breaker as last resort, need to know if they need to be programmed though, cheers.
