Hi all I'm new to this forum and wondering if anybody may be able to help.

Its a 2004 Doblo 1.3 diesel that won't crank.

I have had a little look into this and have 12v to the starter and another 12v when I crank it but It still wouldn't start. I replaced the starter motor but it still won't crank.

Anybody have any ideas or wiring diagrams?

Many thanks. Dan

I think I am right in saying "when you turn the key, the starter simply doesn't work" is this right?

Or, it's turning, but not engaging....

Or, it's turning, but not starting?

First one, if it is getting 12v to the starter and 12v to the solenoid when you crank, this tells me the ignition is working.

Could be the starter is burned out. They can suffer from the braided lead from the solenoid into the starter brushes disintegrating with age or over use. Perhaps the brushes are worn right down.

Another fault and more simple to find is the earth strap could be dirty or loose or even disconnected either with age or burned through.

Get a black jump lead, connect it to the battery earth and a good clean connection on the engine or gearbox. See if the starter kicks in.

If not, I would tend to think perhaps the starter is gubbed.

If you hear it spinning up (a whine like zzipp noise) it's possible the solenoid is damaged.

If the engine is turning but not starting....different problem all together

If the starter will not turn, but is getting 12v, I would be getting it checked out.
