Hi all What generates this message. I changed the oil before this message was displayed, now a few months on this irritating message is displayed in yellow and cancels itself after a few seconds. Had the local non franchised garage to reset the service interval but the "change engine oil" message still shows

Made a mistake on my original post the warning message is in red. Reading similar posts it appears that the warning message is generated from last service reset, both in time and miles, have I understood this correctly, other posts also mention the oil change warning is a separate from service interval, does anyone have a definitive answer to this

If it's anything like my 2010 bravo both are separate, we reset my oil change warning then I scrolled to the next service due bit and that had 236miles to go so reset that as well.

:yeahthat:

Service counter and oil degradation index are separate things. The degradation index MUST be reset at oil change, or this issue will occour.

You now need to have the oil changed again and the degradation index reset.

Failing to reset it will eventually cause the DPF to fail to regenerate which will cost £££ to resolve.

Resetting it and not changing the oil again will result in the possibility of a build up of unburnt fuel in the oil, which will over dilute it causing excess engine wear, and potentially engine run away.

Unfortunately this is the issue when you use garages which clearly don't know what they're doing (n)
