Hi, I recently purchased, for the grand sum of £695, a non turbo 1.9 cargo van.

78k on the clock - vosa verified (including all MOT's) and it had a recent timing belt. Taxed and MOT'd.
I have just done a service (oil and all filters) and she runs fine!

No smoke and it has four good tyres.

I have spent the last two months looking for a cheap van to put my trials bike in and most under a grand have 150k+ miles and are all dented :)

It has been interesting reading some of the posts. Has anyone got any advice for things that are likely to go wrong with a Doblo of this vintage?
Cheers :)

From what I've read on here the fuel pump at later miles seems to be top of the list. Believe Lucas pumps whereas the later JTD have Bosch pumps.
The other thing will be the lack of turbo boost but if you only want a run around then I guess it won't be a problem living with what the non turbo engine can deliver.
Mind you if it's running sweet then happy days and enjoy the space and other bits and bobs that the Doblo can offer for not a lot of money(y)

I have just done 278 miles round trip to Cardiff and she only used half a tank of fuel!
We kept an even 60mph on the motorway which is a little tedious but worth it in fuel saving.
On the whole I am very pleased with the Doblo.
The bike fits in the back with ease too!

The Lucas pumps are expensive to fix/replace. To give better lubrication try 125ml of normal two stroke oil ,not synthetic, in 25litres of diesel every fourth fill.:)

I didn't know you could do that, cheers!
I will give it a go. I use 2 stroke oil in my old Montesa trials bike.

Thanks for the heads up (I will look for a second hand one to have as a spare).
