Yesterday the yellow a/p light came on warning it is clogged on my '08 1.3 D multijet. I've heard these are renowned for this but handbook says let it idle and it will clear itself. Will this work or should I replace the DPF? Any advice greatly received. Cheers.
 
Try taking the car for a long drive at national limits or thereabouts.
I'd guess your use profile is town or city driving maybe short trips too?
 
Thanks Ffoxy. Tried but to no avail. Also tried leaving ticking over for a while (as advised in handbook) but, again, no luck! Any idea on what a replacement will cost? Thanks.
 
Well, after a replacement DPF, 3rd injector & EGR valve the a/p warning light cleared (after a good run) but 450-ish miles later it has returned. I've heard that by knocking all the insides of the (brand new!) DPF out I can have the ECU re-mapped to ignore its existence. Is this possible and any ideas on companies & price? Thanks.
 
Forget knocking the insides out, remove it, keep it for future and simply put a straight through pipe on.

I don't know where you are so couldn't suggest anywhere to try, but look up remapping diesel specialist in your area and ask around if they are any good.

you need the physical DPF in order to pass the MOT visual inspection. I will though bow to the knowledge of everyone on this board as I am having similar problems.

...and how many times do you have an MoT test? ;)

However, since VOSA and other goody two shoe's firms are self funding, they will find ways to remove you from your cash or your car. I would suggest a DPF lookalike from ebay or such....if I were that type of person :rolleyes:
