This might just be a little bit off topic, but how come whenever I buy bacon, its full of water. I don't want to boil it, I want to fry it.
And another thing, how come fish and scampi are mainly white paste.
On topic, does this mean if I sell my doblo can I supply a lump of lard instead?

Supermarket bacon is often up to 25% water. If it contains more than 10% it has to say so on the label although it might just say contains water and not specify the exact amount.

Chicken is even worse, IMHO supermarket chicken these days is cheap yes but also tasteless due to the added water and fast breeding and growing that goes on.

Personally I'd rather eat less meat and pay a bit more for quality than buy some of the garbage that is on offer.

Eat less, better, meat. Simple. The whole world can't be gorged cheaply on dirt cheap animal protein without something having to give. When a chicken costs 20 quid +, which it did when I was a kid (equivalence), all will be well again.

Buying the more expensive crap can help. but yes bacon seems to be hard to get

Our local farm shop sells bacon from its own little piggies...! I'm told, by those who know -- I'm also a veggie... -- that it's the best bacon (cue Jeremy Clarkson impersonation) in the world. No water; and it doesn't shrink when grilled or fried. It does, however, make me very hungry indeed.... :yum:

ive stopped going to these type of places (farm shops0 as most have now jumped on the bandwaggon of importing crap to sell to wannabees in tart rovers

i get all my meats from the proper meat market in the nearest large town, its a 10 mile journey for me on a saturday afternoon after i shut up shop but the bacon cooks properly,i often use my george forman, the pork melts in your mouth and the stewing steak is to kill for
would i buy meat in a supermarket? no
i do buy certain meat products in lidl though as ive yet to be disappointed
