Re: Engine management light

Check intercooler hoses are tight & no holes.

Even a small hole will have an adverse effect.

EGR usually affects the idle in my experience.....

Also check your DPF is not blocked. In my SAAB, I had to rev the bejeesus out of it and keep revving it until it started going over 2000 rpm.

Foot hard down, whereupon it would reach the giddy heights of 3000rpm and no more. Place it in 1st manual (it was tiptronic) and drive flat out for around quarter mile, then second, same thing. By the time I had done about 2.5/3 miles, I reached a roundabout with lights, so I would sit and rev it as hard as possible until the revs started climbing. Then round and off until the layby, where I would idle for 60 seconds, switch off and start again.

Then, I took off like a stabbed rat and would alternate between 3rd & 4th for several miles. By the time I stopped & re-stated for the 3rd time, the light was off and all was well.....until the goop built up in the DPF and the merry go round stopped again

My Doblo is remapped and never gets driven nicely

Vehicle details (i.3 / 1.9???)

Engine light on so have you had the codes read?

Fault could be EGR, or turbo, sensor etc

Thanks

Could I ask what is the DPF? Where is it located?

Re: Engine management light

DPF is Diesel Particulate Filter, located on the exhaust. Worlds most stupid design in that it costs hundreds, is not reliable and creates more pollution than it cures when it goes wrong....but I'm not bitter

If it is a 1300, it could even be a timing problem. They are known for the timing chain tensioner to fail and let the chain jump a tooth or two

Like T14086 said, get the codes read. Most fast fit places will do a reading for around forty quid, which is cheaper than a new engine.

It's no good trying to second guess these days and all we can do with limited information is throw a few idea's at you

Re: Engine management light

Hi again
I took the van to a local fast fit place
And the faults are
P0234 turbo pressure signal
P0683 pre heat glow plugs....

So does the turbo have a sensor?

Thanks

Re: Engine management light

Seem to be sorted

The actuator was jammed on da turbo so wd40
And tire arm worked it free....

Van now is going up to 3500 rpm though all gears

So all I have now is the glow lamp light on dash

Re: Engine management light

Well it's very rarely glow plugs causing this problem, if it starts ok from cold I wouldn't change them.

Remapped? I have the 1.3 multijet diesel. Can I get this done? Where, how & how much? Cheers.

Re: Engine management light

You can get it done and I know the Doblo 1.3 is on a remap scale.

However, the 1.3 is a known poor engine so before attempting any remap, I would be thinking about things like if the timing chain needs replaced and such.

I don't know where you live and wouldn't know who would do it round your way.

However, I would look for tuning shops or remap specialists and ask around if anyone has had it done.

A typical remap should cost no more than 150 quid, any more and they are removing wee

It can improve fuel use and give a reasonable power gain. But be prepared for more stress on certain components such as brakes & clutch.

Also, stick religiously to service intervals.
