92 load rating

Just a quick question, is there any noticeable difference between 88 and 92 load rated tyres. Its only a 1.4 and doesn't carry loads.

Re: 92 load rating

The load rating is what the manufacturer has rated the car can safely place on the tyres.

So if your car is rated at 92, this equates to 630 kilo's of weight on one tyre. Multiply that by 4 and you get the total gross weight the car can legally place on the tyres which is 2520 kilo's or two and a half tonnes.

Now, your car won't likely ever weigh that much, but if you go round some tight bends, the weight shifts depending on which way you are turning.

This means you can be placing the full weight the tyre can carry at a given time going round a bend at speed. Imagine a blow out in those circumstances

Check what your car is rated at and stick to it

Re: 92 load rating

I went for the 92's as my local tyre fitters suggested that I would probably get more miles out of them than the 88's. I tend to do 25-30k a year and for the 3 years that I have had my Doblo it feels like I get an extra 5k with the 92's.

Hope that helps

Peter

PS - Mine is not the van version so is rated at 88 as a minimum

Re: 92 load rating

Ah yes in the manual, 92 for cargos, 88 for passenger dobs.
So I've ordered some avon xt5 88's.

Re: 92 load rating

I had to do a job at a distillery last week so I drove in the Doblo.

I left via the weighbridge and was astounded to see my Doblo showing up at 1.7 tonnes!!

That was with me and a few tools + my leisure battery & 2000w inverter.
