Hi All,
I’ve been a member for about a year now since purchasing a 2001 Doblo Cargo 1.9d on a px for my old work van.

It was originally my intention to use the Doblo as a stop gap and basically run her into the ground whilst saving up for something a bit bigger and newer.

However, thanks in no small measure to the information that is available within this forum I have been able to keep the old girl going and I’m still enjoying driving her on a daily basis. She has definitely grown on me!

With the forum’s help I got her through the MOT back in September for less than £250 and a couple of days underneath her with my spanners out, including new wish bones and a couple of tyres.

Since then I have had to bite the bullet a couple of times and use the services of my local garage but even then the info from the forum saved me over £300 + fitting on a replacement inlet manifold as I was able to advise the garage exactly what the fault was (Coolant leak from rubber seal at the rear of the engine). This meant I could afford to have the cam belt and glow plugs done whilst the repair was carried out.

Total maintenance bill for the year £600 including tyres and cam belt, a van still on the road and I even enjoyed getting my spanners out, not bad at all in my book so my sincere thanks to those who give so freely of their knowledge and experience.

Having been out for a run in the countryside today for work, stopping off to treat her to a hand car wash on the way home I noticed that she seems to be idling slightly high and running quite hot, no temp gauge or rev counter to help me out but having had a search of the forum it seems that these things might be related. Once home I popped the bonnet and although there is no sign of a coolant leak it seems that the cooling fan isn’t operating.

Could anyone please advise me on what the fault could be and a fix for it, is it an electric fan or a viscous job? I don’t have a manual for the van and to be honest I’m not even entirely sure where the fuse box is.

I need to keep her going as the new van fund isn’t exactly overflowing and I don’t really want to spend all summer with the heater on full hoping that she doesn’t blow up.

Many thanks in advance if you are able to help.

Regards to all.

Got it, it's electric!

I'll get under it for a proper look over the weekend and might even go as far as flushing and changing the coolant whilst I'm at it.

Thanks for looking and thanks once again for all the helpful posts, keep em coming.
