Hi All

I am away from home at the moment, but I had the little ladie on the phone telling me that our Dobbie had broken down, the Battary warning light had come on and the car just would not start, She got the car jumped but had all sorts of warning lights coming up all the way home? any how my thought is that it could be ether the engine main earth or the ALternator, (the aux belt is ok) your thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated? 2007 Doblo 1.9JTD

Hi & welcome along.

You understand it is difficult to diagnose from my couch, but I will throw a few idea's in the pot.

These things are guilty of poor earth strap connections, so that would be the first port of call.

The earth strap from the battery - goes tot he gearbox and can suffer high resistance connection from a build up of crud, usually exacerbated by salt on the roads over winter.

That is the bolt for the earth strap on the box. It's a 17mm spanner or socket to remove it. Wire brush the bolt and the area where the strap connects to the gearbox as well as the strap itself. A touch of vaseline or copper grease and spin it back up.

Failing that, it could be the alternator output or a problem with the ignition switch....

I should point out that I had the air filter housing removed along with some turbo/intercooler pipework as I was doing the clutch.....
