As some may know, I bought a Doblo with some missing parts.
I had management lights on and the stupid beeping & flashing oil light which apparently only Fiat could fix.
So, when a friend in the trade said he could sort out all the problems and map it for one hundred & fifty quid, I wasn't entirely convinced all my problems would be solved
However, I went over and had a reading and.... NOTHING! My car wasn't in the drop down box, the map reader could only identify Doblo 1.3 multijet.
So I suggested my mate try the Multipla which uses same 1.9 JTD multijet engine and ecu (Bosch) & bingo it was the same so he read the ecu which took around 40 minutes!
He then re-wrote the stuff he'd read back onto my ecu...... It accepted. So next he copied and pasted the reading and emailed it to a chap....somewhere in Narnia...
Smoke and Mirrors?
Perhaps, but actually, the chap wrote a specific map for my car which took around 90 minutes and he emailed it back to my mate. Back to the car with the new map and installed it. He then had to use his code reader to bin any stored codes and tell the ecu to reset it's service light, which included switching off the beeping, flashing "CHANGE OIL" instruction (since it was done 1400 miles ago).
The map included instructing the EGR to stay closed permanently. The DPF to shut down operations and new injector, turbo and breathing instructions.
I can't say how many BHP the car has, but it tore the doors off a couple of wide boys who saw my car and thought perhaps I was in a chair in the back with a pair of stumps and no idea how to drive
I always get it, people assume I am disabled and can only do 30mph
Anyway, it spins the wheels in the wet on hard acceleration in 1st, 2nd & 3rd so I have to re-learn how to use the throttle
If doing 60mph in top gear & want to overtake, no need to drop into 4th as it just pulls and pulls. However, if I want a really quick overtake, I drop a cog and pass like I'm in a V8
WHAT a difference!
My advice is steer clear of chips as they not only over fuel the car, they make you fat :yum:
Go for a re-map every time.
Oh, and fuel economy has improved from the previous 32mpg average :worship:
Doblo's rock :slayer:
