As some may know, I bought a Doblo with some missing parts.

I had management lights on and the stupid beeping & flashing oil light which apparently only Fiat could fix.

So, when a friend in the trade said he could sort out all the problems and map it for one hundred & fifty quid, I wasn't entirely convinced all my problems would be solved

However, I went over and had a reading and.... NOTHING! My car wasn't in the drop down box, the map reader could only identify Doblo 1.3 multijet.

So I suggested my mate try the Multipla which uses same 1.9 JTD multijet engine and ecu (Bosch) & bingo it was the same so he read the ecu which took around 40 minutes!

He then re-wrote the stuff he'd read back onto my ecu...... It accepted. So next he copied and pasted the reading and emailed it to a chap....somewhere in Narnia...

Smoke and Mirrors?

Perhaps, but actually, the chap wrote a specific map for my car which took around 90 minutes and he emailed it back to my mate. Back to the car with the new map and installed it. He then had to use his code reader to bin any stored codes and tell the ecu to reset it's service light, which included switching off the beeping, flashing "CHANGE OIL" instruction (since it was done 1400 miles ago).

The map included instructing the EGR to stay closed permanently. The DPF to shut down operations and new injector, turbo and breathing instructions.

I can't say how many BHP the car has, but it tore the doors off a couple of wide boys who saw my car and thought perhaps I was in a chair in the back with a pair of stumps and no idea how to drive ;)

I always get it, people assume I am disabled and can only do 30mph

Anyway, it spins the wheels in the wet on hard acceleration in 1st, 2nd & 3rd so I have to re-learn how to use the throttle :D

If doing 60mph in top gear & want to overtake, no need to drop into 4th as it just pulls and pulls. However, if I want a really quick overtake, I drop a cog and pass like I'm in a V8 :p

WHAT a difference!

My advice is steer clear of chips as they not only over fuel the car, they make you fat :yum:

Go for a re-map every time.

Oh, and fuel economy has improved from the previous 32mpg average :worship:

Doblo's rock :slayer:

I think my 1.3 doblo has had the dpf hollowed a remap. I brought it a month ago and it shifts like poo on a shovel. Is there any tell tell signs on this as the only one I can think of is the presence of soot on the exhaust and performance?

Not sure other than see if the DPF has been welded (a patch where it was cut open). Or perhaps there is no outward sign if they simply smashed it out using a long pry bar or breaker bar (the type used for undoing tight wheel nuts).

The 1.3 is a nippy engine, but not the strongest engine in the world, so change the oil at 6/8k miles.

The problem with mapping is it is VERY difficult to tell unless you have a sophisticated set up to measure the injectors pulse width & duration and compare them to what FIAT consider standard.

You could always compare it to a similar model & year and see which one feels faster.....

Be carful of disabling your DPF the government is about to include a working installed DPF into the MOT so if it was built with one it must have a working one fitted so there is going to be lots of red faced owners have to spend hundreds on new units where they have had them removed ?

Well, my problem was some utter &*@+ stole mine before I took ownership of the car! :(

I have one in mind and will fit it.......soon......;)
