Recently had an engine failure warning light but the engine appeared to be running fine. Fiat diagnostics identified a failed EGR valve.
Decided to investigate myself. It is very difficult to get at as it is between the engine block and the bulkhead. Most of the work is done blind by feeling around for bolt heads. Tried to separate it from the cooler unit in situ but bolts are difficult to access and very tight. Decided the best option was to take the cooler off with the EGR valve so undid a couple of hoses and lost some engine coolant. Once off separation was easy and new EGR valve fitted and refitting was the same blind operation. I spent about 10 hours on this job!!!!! Hands cut to ribbons too.
The old valve was indeed stuck closed but after pulling at it with pliers it freed up. I put 12 volts across it on the bench and it worked. I bought an exchange unit so it goes back to Euro car parts tomorrow. I thought putting the old one back on was not a good choice in view of the difficulty of the job.
Anyone know an easy way of doing this job?

Hello I myself have had the EGR error on my Doblo, and I have used Bell Add Service 1D, and it eliminates the error.
See here www. belladd.dk/en/ServiceRens/Bell-Add-ServiceRens-1D.html
You just add it to the fuel.
