My doblo mpv had a recent engine failure warning and light!
Fiat charged me £60 to tell me the erg valve had gone and there was a hole in the inlet manifold. Presume the exhaust gas burnt a hole in the plastic manifold.

Fiat want to sell me a new manifold for £250 plus vat. Part number 55231284

I have found a new one on ebay which I am told is for a 1.3 multi jet but the part number is slightly different: 55231291

Anyone out there like to give an opinion or give me some ideas. Have the manifolds changed much over time? Fiat gave me a stock answer, wrong number - wrong part.

not much response to this!

Has anyone tried to repair these inlet manifolds that I believe are a plastic though I do not know what type? I presume thermosetting plastic from the fibreglass family.

This is the second time in a year I have had to have this repaired. :bang:
The first sign is the presence of GUNK, then the engine warning light going on at the same time as a sudden and dangerous loss of power (at usually a request from the driver/operator to get across this junction as the user has just noticed an approaching vehicle about to side mount his Doblo), then this plastic manifold burns one or two holes through itself.
1. Can I do without this piece of plastic and blank it off with a metal plate?
2. What sort of filler is available to plug these holes in the manifold to stop the hissing noise?

:D
Err Sorry getting really confused...You speak of "Inlet manifold" and talk of exhaust gas... I think correct me if wrong you refer to "recycling gases or hot air" .. keeps the little engine warmy....ahh!:hug:

Hi DobloDave I've just had the same problem ( hole burnt through the inlet manifold) Cost me 600Euros to repair whilst travelling through Italy. Did you form any opinion as to what causes this problem.Any suggestions would be appreciated.
