Tuning a Doblo?

Good evening new member from Leeds, West Yorkshire. I own a 57 plate Doblo 1.9JTD 8v in blue on 55000 miles.
The misses owns a 57 plate Panda 100hp in blue on 53000 miles.

I'm really interested in squeezing a little more torque out of the Doblo so any suggestion/ proven methods are welcomed, cheers

Re: Tuning a Doblo?

Well, if you can find someone who can remap the ECU, it should cost around 100 to 120 pounds.

Mine is a 59 plate 1.9 JTD with 120bhp, but I am having it mapped to 152bhp which is about the max.

My advice is new brakes & ensure the calipers & sliders are serviced (cleaned & greased) to ensure maximum effort and new shock absorbers as the extra 32bhp may not sound like much, but the effect is much the same as towing a heavy caravan around, then removing it, chucking out your passengers and going off like a stabbed rat

It will be more eager and willing as well as not feeling as though it is. Just take it gradual and get the feel of braking sooner

Re: Tuning a Doblo?

Thanks for the info, when you say new do you just mean new stock parts or upgraded? I come from a ford background where on the Mondeo I had a decat, full cold air induction, remap and focus St brake set up, found info on doblos hard to come by, there seems to be no induction kit and I've found a decay but only for a mk 1, is the engine able accept 152 on standard parts?

Re: Tuning a Doblo?

I had a Saab 93 with a 1.9 JTD engine producing 180bhp from a Hirsch performance upgrade.

Granted it was a 16v engine, but it's the same block.

Try looking for Saab or Vauxhall performance parts. I have no doubt the engine will take the upgrade. I wouldn't bother with performance brakes as these were originally built as vans with tough suspension and powerful brakes to work whilst carrying a full load.

However, if you are experiencing brake fade, perhaps you are driving too fast for too long But seriously, try green stuff pads & cross drilled & grooved discs on the front.

Re: Tuning a Doblo?

Will Vauxhall and Saab parts fit a mk2? I know the new Vauxhall combo van is a mk3 just re-badged, what about Alpha parts? I'm lost in a sea of choices but don't wanna buy the wrong ones, cheers

Re: Tuning a Doblo?

I meant the engine parts such as K&N filter for instance. I would measure the original flat panel filter and see whats available.

As for brake pads & discs, any GOOD motor factor should be able to cross ref pads & discs to see whats available.

I'll have a look, but it may take me a week or two..... Thing is, the Doblo is a four stud, so Saab & Vauxhall discs wont fit. But the likes of Demon Tweaks should be able to source something.
