Hello all!

i've just fitted a Laserline AP900 cruise control kit to my 2006 Doblo! Decided to go for the RF steering wheel controller instead of the normally supplied column stalk. Mainly because i think the steering wheel controller looks better but also because it's right there in front of you so you can see it without the steering wheel being in the way.

Anyways. Was quite easy to fit although i did drag it out a little bit so if i did it again i could do it a hell of a lot quicker. I've never been that bothered about having cruise control but lately i've been racking up the miles with work. Which some days sees me doing 400-500 miles which can sometimes leave me with a very uncomfortable right leg, mainly my knee & ankle.

Not been on a long trip with it yet but did go out on the A roads where I live in set it at 50mph & it worked fine. Accelerates & decelerates from the steering controller (y)

Well done Craig with this mod.
Out of interest, is the cruise control unit just an electronic control that is wired in or are there some hardware mechanics components involved. Like I say, only out of interest because I've never delved into whats involved with a cruise control unit.

Thanks! :)

It's all electronic & quite straightforward with the Doblo. The control unit comes with a T harness loom that fits between throttle pedal & it's orignal loom. Then you connect a wire into BSI for speed signal pick up. 2 wires go into a wire in ignition switch then another wire connects to a wire in brake pedal switch.

Other than that you just have wires from control unit to dash LED & a small loom to the steering wheel control module. The actual steering wheel controller connects to it's control module via RF so no wires between those 2

Well done. I have cruise on my Dobby (it came with it from new) and I would not be without it now. (y)

Been thinking about this for mine, do you have a link to the supplier?

the kit with the wireless steering wheel controller was about £265. It's cheaper if you get the normal stalk. Think it knocked about £40-45 off

Hi,
I just signed up to the forum this evening specifically because of this thread :)

I have just been trying to install a Magicspeed MS-880 which when you look through the description is identical to the AP900. Same interface, wiring colour and same programming procedure.

My problem is finding a valid rpm and/or speed signal. I don't have a wiring diagram to go by, and I cannot find a signal that the cruise control will detect in diagnostic mode. I have tried several different signals from the fuse box in the engine compartment, but only drawn blanks yet. You wrote in your post that the signal can be obtained from the BSI. Where exactly did you find the needed signal?

The rest of the interface is functioning, but I cannot get it to register anything on the blue wire, even though the signal is approx. 5VDC and within frequency specs...

A hints would be greatly appreciated.

yes the speed pick up came from the BSI. Can't remember which wire off the top of my head & pretty sure i threw away the wiring diagram. If i remember i'll have a look at the wiring tomorrow as it conneced to 1 of the multiplug wires at the front of the BSI so easy enough to see.

Not sure if your BSI & wiring will be the same as mine is a 2006 facelift model. Can't you get a wiring diagram from who you bought it from?

Problem solved!

I rang the Danish branch of the supplier yesterday and a very helpful supporter helped me find the speed signal terminal in a closed database they have access to. Apparently the wiring is the same in all Doblo’s from 2001-2010. After that it was only a matter of connecting the wire to the correct terminal and everything worked like a charm 

FYI the signal can be found either in the engine bay or at the BSI under the dashboard.
In the engine bay it is in the fuse box. The black 12-pin connector on terminal “L” (black/green wire)
At the BSI it is in the blue 40-pin connector. Terminal 17 in the white part of the plug (blue/green wire)

Hi guys. Thanks for posting the link above. I've just used it as I'm after fitting one to my Doblo. I also do a lot of long distances and cruise control makes it much easier.

I must say the first post has helped me made up my mind on what cruise control to get for my Doblo 1.9JTD. I also went for Laserline AP900 with CM21 model. I initially googled for that model and it took me to a dealer who is based in Bridgewater, Somerset. I did a lot of research beforehand, which wires to tap into etc. The seller is very friendly, they even sent me photos of the speed signal (although there are two wires of similar colours, but I sorted that out in the end) and the RPM signal which helped me a great deal. Anyone who is looking to install a cruise control, is handy with mutimeter and is agile enough to work in a confined space (being the footwell!), then feel free to email me through here. I might be able to help.

Thanks

Ask you one question, your cruise control is same type will fit my Punto 1.9jtd, when you switch it on and set speed for example 50mph. When you go uphill do this lose speed?
Because all factory standard cruise control that fit all Fiat don't lose speed when go uphill because ECU keeps exactly 50mph whether go up or down hill

Yes it loses speed but not by much, after a few seconds it will compensate & increase the speed.

I have 2 BMW's & both have factory cruise, i'm pretty sure even both of these will lose speed slightly when initially going up an hill because it can't predict you're going to go up a hill until you're starting to go up it

The factory fitted Cruise in my 2011 Dobby doesn't like hills at all. If you set it while going up or down hill it gets very confused and the car then surges and slows on a regular cycle even when it gets on the level again. I have learnt to only set the Cruise when driving on the level. Once its been set when on the level it copes with hills okay and is no longer confused.
