Technical Central locking problem

I'm new to this forum but I was wondering if you could help me. I've just bought an 04 Doblo. That has developed an intermittent fault. As I drive the dorr opern warning light comes on. This means that sometimes I can't lock the car because it thinks the doors are open. Anyway I've traced it to the front passenger door. I know this because every time I have this problem opening the front passengers window causes the light to go off (and it comes on again when I close the window). Obviously it's going back to the garage to be fixed, but I wondered if anyone had experienced this problem and could give me some tips so that I can screw the FIAT garage down tightly.

Other than that all I can say is - what a brilliant car! It's my first return to FIATs after about twenty years (A 131 supermirafiori) they seem to have improved a bit!

could just be a poor connection on the courtesy light switch.i assume thats how it senses the doors open. or there could be a specific sensor.

Thanks for that - problem is there's nothing that looks like a courtesy light switch at the sides of the door. I don't suppose you know what it looks like?

fraid not but there must be some method of it knowing the doors open.perhaps as the stil/new punto guys as it may have a similar set up

I think it's more like a proximity sensor now than the old plunger type courtesy switch. I'd look for a dodgy wiring connector in the door hinge wiring ducting

It'll be a switch mounted inside the door latch, i'd say that would be a good starting point
