Hi there,
What started out as a good day has turned into a disaster. I put £15 of unleaded in my Doblo 1.9 diesel then drove three miles before realising.
Is there an easy way to drain the tank and whats the chances I have Bu**ered the engine.
Help.

I panicked and phoned a friend. He unscrewed the level sender cover from under the mat under the back seats and pulled the two tubes off. When it stopped draining I turned the ignition on and each time I did it pumped out about a large cup of Petrol. Managed to drain complete tank and fill up with Diesel. Only thing I couldnt do was get the Diesel filter off "any idea's". Its run perfect since.

The fuel filter should be easy to get off with a strap wrench or if you haven't got one try a piece of sandpaper in your hand to get a good grip of the filter.

I would not worry about it. It is considered safe to run 25% of petrol in a Diesel engine. I used to live in an area of severe cold and we had to put petrol in the Diesel to be able to run the engine at all.

Adding 25% petrol to diesel is a definate no,no. It may have been alright years ago but with modern common rail engines 0% is the only safe option.
Every year in Britain 120,000 diesel owners fill up with petrol by mistake.
Remember that it's only the diesel fuel that lubricates the fuel pump & to make matters worse the sulphur that also lubricated has been reduced.
There is an article on petrol in fuel tanks in the July 2005 Diesel Car magazine. A magazine well worth buying.
