Is there any nice person who could tell me what pressure should be coming from the high pressure pump, when turning over. My pump only gives a reading of 25 psi. The other question is the compression pressure, as i can not even get this engine to even fire. I have replaced a few electrical parts but to no avail. I would be very grateful for any help, this van has been off the road for a few months now.
Thank you in advance.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. what i did do was undo the pipe that comes off the high pressure pump to the fuel rail then put screwed my adapter on the pump, got my wife to keep turning the engine over, and the best pressure of 3 was 25-27 psi. i still have to get adapter bits to test the compression through the heater plug holes, the thing i dont know is , what the pressures should be??? Thanks, Paul.

From memory using ecuscan on my laptop i remember last year the 1.3 jtd common rail was around 400 bar (1 bar =14psi ). 25 psi is nothing and i would say its not accurate using your method .

Thanks very much for your help, what would you say is the best method of testing high pressure pump, and main compression test, would you by any chance know what the main cylinder compression should be?? Thanks Paul.

If it wont fire i cant imagine it being a compression problem not unless
the engine has had a praticial cease on some of the piston .
i would check the cam timing . check the pressure on the high pressure pump when cranking the engine over . You will need a laptop and fiat multiscan which costs about 50 euro . This is were you should really start . If the cam has slipped it will come up as a fault on multiscan . If you connect uo multiscan and turn the engine over and its not reading any fuel pressure it could be the pump or one of the injectors leaking and it wont hold pressure in the system . The compression at a guess will be 22 to 1 upwards .

Thank you very much, i will start tomorrow, going through what you have said, i will hopefully come back to you with the results. Paul.
