plz can anyone help with possible cause. when I rev my engine the lower pipe on my turbo sucks in on itself and I lose all power and black smoke comes out of exhaust. please can anyone give me an idea wether its the egr valve or airflow meter or is it the turbo. many thanks Carl:mad:

The black smoke is likely oxygen starvation leading to partial combustion as you suspect. Before spending money replacing EGR or Turbo, thoroughly check the inlet system between the air intake and the turbo in case there is a blockage, including the intercooler if one is fitted. I once saw a plastic cup blocking an inlet that had blown up from the road on a truck system.

At a really basic level it could be that the hose has become weak with age. If there is no blockage and the pipe has not perished, then you need to check the functioning of the egr valve.

Not sure about the airflow meter or the Turbo.

How olds the car? if its done a fair few miles or is 7 or 8 years old then its possible you need a new pipe as they deterioration with age,the sucking in means you wont get as much air going into the engine therefore less power and black smoke....

As Yobbo stated I would be looking for a blockage. A split in pipe would give a tell tell whistle noise and the AFM wouldn't affect this. EGR only returns a small amount of gases back into the engine so again I would search for blockage including the intercooler itself.

Hi first time on hear for a long time been reading a few posts and seem like 'T' is the one to talk to so recently got a doblo 1.9 jtd 2004 82,000 miles on it it has back pressure out the dip stick also hard cold starting there is diesel leaking from injectors/ injector pipes but always drive totaly fine. I was driver back from scotland yesterday and heard a strange wering noise and then turbo died :( so no powere either i was thinking back pressure was caused by a blocked oil breather or feed to turbo which hac caused turbo to go ?? Really unsure tbh please help
