Hi Guys n Gals I'm new to the forum.
I am replacing the EGR Valve for the mot, I am thinking of fitting a blanking plate after mot. Is it ok to just fit the blanking plate or will I need to add/remove/replace someting else.

Thanks in advance
Karl:confused:

why buy a new valve then blank it off:confused:

The modified 'swirl plate' is not recommended for doblos due to different mapping so if you want to blank it off it's your call. Personally i'd replace and give the doblo a little 'blast' every week after all doblos don't suffer from EGR's problems as much as other 1.9's in the range.

(why are you replacing the EGR for anyway)

Engine fail light.... Diagnostics say egr.... this will fail MOT I believe the egr actualy decreases MPG and power...

Fiat has a special plate with 4 holes in it, to replace the existing gasket, it doesn't block the EGR completely, but enough to keep the ECU satisfied.
Completely blanking it of will result in a codelight
Your dealer will know, it's very inexpensive.
If you want I can look up the part number.

Thanks I would be very grateful if you could do that for me....

Fiat #: 0055225287 about 5 gbp.
EGR restricting plate/gasket for the 1,9 jtd 16V, if you have an 8V you need a different plate.

Oh heck now ya asking I'll see if I can get info but it will not be until Sun as I am away working

A restricted ( or even blocked) EGR is very healthy for any engine...( less healthy for the enviroment, though....)
I restricted the EGR on my 1,9 16V diesel engine equiped Alfa GT ( and removed both catalysts as well...!).

Hello, If anyone is interested I've just bought a new Fiat EGR valve for my Doblo 1.9 Multijet 8v (engine code 186A9000) for £59.99 +VAT from my local Fiat Dealer. Apparently Fiat have introduced a 'trade' price for Doblo's due to the heavy Taxi business, just to encourage Taxi users to keep coming back to their dealers.

Thought this might help some decisions...

Am i missing something...why not just disconnect the power plug that clips to the valve ? Then it cant open.. at MOT re-connect.
