May be a bit late for you but I had to change a top strut RHS on my 08 doblo cargo yesterday which required spring removal/refit. Yes they are strong, I needed two spring compressors (had to buy another set) and make sure there the good ones which fork at two points over spring like Laser heavy duty spring compressor as you really have to compress the spring almost fully to rebuild.
