I`m considering getting hold of a 2009 Doblo to pull a caravan. Now, my previous petrol one was almost too light on it`s front paws to pull itself (slight exaggeration) so I wondered if you wise old elfs on here would comment on the diesel (organic) choice for this purpose? Also, towing (nose) weights . . . and etc . . . Thank you! . . . I`m new by the way . . .

I towed with a 52 plate 1.9 jtd (100hp) version and my Father still tows with an 07 plate 1.9 multijet (105hp) version. Both ours towed lightish caravans. Mine was 1035kg fully laden. My fathers is 1200kg fully laden. (He doesn't load it much). Pre facelift versions towing cap is 1100kg. Post facelifted versions are 1300kg. Noseweight for both is a paltry 60kg. Had no problems towing. They both maintained mway speeds with ease. I don't remember any serious traction issues. A good website to visit is www.whattowcar.com. You can match the car to popular caravans and it gives a breakdown of likely towing characteristics. There are owner accounts of towing with them too.

The 1.9 jtd won its tow car of the year catgory in 2002 or 2003. Forgot to mention that.

I don't really do the techy stuff but I have a trailer which is the back end of a BT van - so VERY nose heavy.
The dobby is more than happy to drag this thing along with a load of furniture inside it (3 piece, 7' oak sideboard, corner cabinet, futon, 2 heavy rocking/gliding chairs).
So happy that there were times when I had to lift the right foot as I was creeping to 70 .
Mines a 1.9 jtd 105horses.
Actually, probably a more stable outfit because the trailer's wheels were set so far back?
And having a reversing cam set up, hooking up is an absolute doddle as you can get the towball to within a cockhair of the hitch.

I tow a Lunar Clubman 390/2 with my Doblo Van (1.9jtd) pulls it realy well! do struggle a little with traction, but runing Alfa alloy wheels with low profile tyres, and they hate loose gravel etc.... at campsites.
Do get some funny looks at campsies in Summer as me and the wife look like travellers pulling the van with a van,but it is an exepionally clean Doblo :slayer:and it makes me chuckle.
oh also tow my 1969 Singer Chamois sport with it too,as in my avatar
