Hi Dobloids,

I have just had the famous internet window shades delivered.

I have read the threads regarding fitting the shades to the sliding doors. I have an 08 Dobbie, so I presume that the door trim (door card?) is an issue.

Some folk seem to have removed the trim to fit the blinds, whereas others seem to have simply prised it away a little.

Q1. Is the the troublesome trim actually the full door card?

Q2. How fiddly is it to get the shades behind the trim whilst fitted? Do I have to slacken-off the torqs screws and door handle to make room for the shades?

Any experience on an 08 or similar Doblo most welcome.

Thanks,

B.E

Nah, for the two slidey doors, you need to pry away the trim from the bottom of the doors, but just along the top edge in order to slip the bottom of the shades behind. And yes, for the back side windows, it's a case of prying the trim all around the window. I found removing the upper seat belt mounts allowed the trim to pry off more easily.

Nice big wide pry bar helps and only pry things back the minimum you need to get the shades behind - so something like 8mm or so. The borders on the shade are really quite flexible and you can fold/bend 'em to fit, and they pop back into shape behind the trim, allowing you to then whack the trim back into place - which holds the shades in situ! Bonzer!

Stay cool,

Jon.

stupid question alert!

Can you open the sliding windows with the shades in place?

Thanks to all who replied.

I wish that I had searched this forum before ordering. I spoke to the supplier today and will be returning the product (at my expense) for a refund.

They were clearly (no pun intended) never meant for the later Doblos. I am not prepared to remove trim / door cards and with the dog travelling so often in the car it would be a nightmare keeping the window areas clean and hair free if the blinds could not be clipped out easily.

At least I got some fleebay tailored floor mats that are as expected.

Thanks again,

B.E

I fitted mine without prising the trim - they just sit in the window at an angle. the shades are now not tight to the glass but set about an inch or so inside. As said, it is just the ones in the rear windows.
However, the effect is, I assume, the same. It is difficult to see in & they do provide good shade from the sun.
