Hi guys, hope you can help me here with a couple of questions

1 .Ive not used my Doblo Cargo 1.9 jtd for around a week. Its never failed to start in 4 years, not once. Now suddenly there is a yellow warning light appeared which I think is an immobilizer light (half car symbol with padlock through it)? I didnt even know the van had one? Anyway,I really need it running for work.Is there anyway to bypass it etc and why would it just come on?

2 A few months ago the van lost all throttle.Red engine light on dash and accelerator pedal inoperative.Van would start and idle no problem but not accelerate.Fitted new fuel filter and worked for 2 weeks then same again.garage fitted new "fly by wire" pedal and worked again but for how long? Any idea what normally causes this and if its a known problem with the cargo? No faults were shown when laptop was plugged in.

Many thanks for any help on this matter guys. regards Gmack!

No way to bypass, do you have another key?

Hi there, thanks for the reply.Yes I have 2 standard keys (blue) which came with the van. Both keys have no effect on the light coming on.I used one after the other to no avail. Is there perhaps a sequence of some sort to try before using the second key? i.e. disconnect battery first etc?I was told there was no master key (red?) with the JTD models (no idea if true though?) Seems strange that its happened during the van not being used for a week. thanks again, GMACK!

leave for 1 minute before trying other key, no red key, id the battery go flat?

Thanks T14086. No battery was great.Simply didnt use the van for 7 days.Went to start it and turned over full pelt but nothing then I noticed the symbol and stopped. Will try again tomorrow when I get home.I have major problems ahead if I dont get this van working.Thats the first time in 4 years its failed to start. Thanks again for reply, regards GMACK!

This happened to my sister in law's Astra. I think she dropped the key. I've heard about magnets in hi fi speakers messing them up too. Try the spare key first tomorrow, take the other one out of the equation. Good luck!

Well,I tried the spare key this morning and no difference.Immobiliser light still on so basically both keys are having no effect on it.Being a novice doesnt help but id find it easier to understand if perhaps the battery had went flat or the van was in use,but for it to happen whilst parked for a week is baffling! Regards,GMACK

Hi: Disconnecting the battery will sometimes work to re-set an immobiliser, but you need to leave at least an hour for the Internal capacitors to fully drain of charge.

Andy

Thanks very much guys, will disconnect the battery in the morning and get back to you.Regards GMACK

yet again no luck:cry: Disconnected battery for 2 hours.reconnected and immobilizer light still on with both keys aswell.Cant believe this is happening as the doblo is my deposit on a newer van and it has to drive in. Thanks anyway folks, GMACK!

as somebody else has already said there's a transponder aerial/ring around/near the ignition barrel. If this has packed up then it won't read the transponder in any key you have so there's a chance it could be that

I cut & program car keys & have a tester that tests the transponder aerial in cars. Where do you live?

Hi craig,Im in Edinburgh which is proberbly the other side of th universe lol

yeh, that's a shame otherwise i would test it for you.

In fact, i do have 2 transponder aerial testers. 1 of them also tests remotes are sending RF signal.

I could post my tester to you. It's very simply to use. You literally just turn it on, put it as near to the ignition barrel as possible, put you key in the ignition then turn ignition to position 2. A green light illuminates & you hear a beep if it's working properly.

I'd send it special delivery & would want it returning the same way if you want to borrow it & will pay postage costs

it's up to you, doesn't weight much so won't cost a lot to send. Be cheaper than getting somebody out to test it. I'd also require a deposit just on the off chance you decided to keep it! :D no offense intended. Deposit fully refunded once i got my tester back.

you can contact me on 0790xxxxxxx or [email protected] EDITED BY T14086 'best give out your mobile and email via PM, there's some strange folk about;-)
