I have a 1.3 08 doblo van and its now eating keys. The electronics behind it is working ok but the barel is wearing keys out at at £150 a key its getting a bit frustrating (MUCH MORE ££ FROM FIAT!!! fyi)

basically as the key enters the barrel the first part of the key (45*) wears and then it doesn;t turn in the barel

Anyone else having this problem?

Does anyone have instructions on how to remove the barrel? cos I'm going to take the 'pins' out completely and solve this problem once and for all!..................assuming this can be done?

tried that already, makes it worse, all it does is sticks tiny bits of grit to the key and then they go in the the barrel when you use the key.

LOOKING FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO REMOVE THE IGNITION BARREL! I know what I'm going to do and will let you know how I get on if someone can point me in the right direction for the instructions.

Why not get a new lock set and cure this for once and for all.

n.b. any hints/techniques that could compromise the security of another owners vehicle will be deleted.
