Hello all again..

Just my second post on here today..

Just bourght a 2002 dolbo van, 1.9 sx jtd

Sat on drive revving engine and just seems to build up revs really slow.. and when hits 3000rpm it sticks there

i bourght van from garage and they told me they just changed new air mass meter..
Been reading on this forum tonight and seems these vans/engine suffer from EGR problems..
Woudl it be that and would it be worth taking off and cleaning and see how that goes.. I just had to same problem with a 1.7td astra van so thats why i sold and bourght this

All help much appreciated

Thanks

Sounds like limp mode. Best to get the computer reset after having codes read. Any stored codes will give you a better idea.

Had exactly the same symptons on my Doblo other day coming home from

work. Wouldn`t rev above 3,000 RPM and white smoke too.

Cleaned the EGR and attached solenoid and all is well with the world.

Worth doing if you have the tools and a couple of hours.

Bit tight in there for hands and tools but do-able.

Good Luck :)

Thanks for advice all..

This afternoon i had a early day from work so i foudn the removal guide on the egr valve and did it this aftynoon..

cant believe the lack of space to move around the bonnet, After about 45mins i got it off and stripped it all down and cleaned. Masses of crud and black grime so went back on all nice and clean.. Plugged egr back in on the plug and started engine..

No difference

soo i sat there revving like hell and revs stuck at 2500prm and after 2/3mins and tried full revs again now getting 3000rpm

I noticed once the engine temp was increasingthe revvs was getting higher..

At the end i got fed up and engine was at 90 Degrees and engine built up revvs normal and hot the 5000 mark so then turned engine off and left for 5 mins started and then went back to 3500rpm so i just dont know..

I thinking maybe the ECU wont let you revv the engine hard when cold and once warm you can raise the revvs or is this totally wrong ..

What selanoid am i connecting lol ..

All i did was follow the removal guide which was easy and jsut did the opposite for refitting ..

Well today ive started the engine andlet warm for 5 mins.. wont rev over 3000rpm

go out and checked exhaust.. Seems to be chucking out white smoke..

Anyone know what this could be

you need to take it to someone with the right equipment/experience, dealerships are expensive but often save you money in the long run.

Have you disonnected the airflow meter? Turbo wastegate moving?

The solenoid is connected to the EGR, 5 torx screws if i remember correctly. Did the EGR move freely once cleaned ? With finger strength only you should be able to check once solenoid is off. Mine was stuck closed ( good ) it was the solenoid that wasn`t playing correctly.

A well known recovery org would spray some egr cleaner into airbox and literally rev nuts off it for 10 seconds or so to get things moving. Seen this done on my brothers JTD, thought he was trying to kill the engine, then cough, splutter, lots of black crap out of exhaust job done.

Keep going and let us know how you get on.

hello again,

Thanks for advice..
I taken egr off and dismantled it all as far as i could.
Stripped it down till you can see the moving piston thing inside and cleaned with WD40 alternate to carb cleaner.. all scrubbed with old toothbrush and rags.
All moving ok so rebulilt and fitted back to van and connected electrical connections plug. Started van an no diffrence..
Went back to garage where i purchased from and said they said it wont rev over 3500rpm until engine to temp etc..

went home and tried it, let engine warm for 5mins got to 90degrees and revved right upto 5000rpm.. so seems that could be it.
cant drive it on road yet and test as not insured andtaxed untill another few weeks

Any way i have heater problem now!!

Heater control not working at all.. from speed 1 to 4 just nothing
ive checked fuses and stuff they all fine
reading on here and people say changed heater resistor

Any one suggest ?

I've just fixed 1, I bought as a smoker. Check the turbo by removing the main feed pipe to the air intake, if the propeller is not moving freely and spinning the main oil feed pipe is blocked and the lack of oil may have damaged it. Ps is the ecu light on

As to heater fiat like to use different size wires from one plug to another look near fan motor and there should be a multi-plug that might be damaged, did one on a mk2 punto diesel or could be a fuse.

hello again.

Advice on low revs etc..

No i havent got a eml at all, seems fine once engine warms up.. so untill i take for drive i dunno wat it drives like..
also about heater, were am i looking for heater motor, Sorry iam new to fiats
