hi im new to this site changing my front door handle/lock took out the allen key star bolt on the side theres a round bolt next to the handle how does it come off does it require a special tool would be grateful for any help i own the 1.9 jtd doblo van thanks

if you look at the handle on the doblo theres a black tag on the right you pull off theres an almost round nut on there and i cant unscrew it

this is the one

just been told its a security bolt thats snapped off after its installed which would explain a few things

I took out the bolt out of my rear door,i drilled a hole in it and took it out with an easy out tool,we replaced it with a 6mm countersunk bolt with an allen key head,i am going to do this to all these bolts to save any probs in future, any probs give me a shout back mate

i live in rural aberdeenshire ,it is a fiat doblo with a crappy stereo, its has nothing in it worth stealing,my street i live in has decent cars, bmw, audi etc,and changing a bolt to help any repairs in future is more important than worrying if someone is going 2 break into my doblo, get real mate !

You might live in a rural place but not all of us do. Don't think for one moment that car thieves don't scour car forums for information and as there are many work vans out there with tools/equipment in the back I stand by my comments. A shear bolt should be replaced with a shear bolt, it's there for a reason!

Hi

Please can you tell me the length of the bolt you used?

Thank you

If you have to use a non-shear bolt, use an allen head bolt and fill the hole with epoxy.

Or in fact would anyone know the min/max length of bolt that is viable? Also, am I right in presuming that 6mm is a standard diameter? Mine is a 2007 Doblo Cargo.

I need to replace the driver's side sliding door handle and will need to order a bolt that hopefully fits (shear or otherwise).

Any feedback would be gratefully received!

Thank you
