Hi all,

was just wondering if anyone knew what this message on the dash-display means and what caused it...

This morning it was around -10 degrees here (we live in Germany now btw...) and right after starting our Doblo 1.6 Dualogic (Year 2011) the message "Keep vehicle moving" showed up on the display. As far as I can remember there was no warning light associated with the message...

After a few seconds it was gone so I guess there isn't an actual problem with the car but I couldn't find any mention of this message in the manual or online.

I assume it might have something to do with the cold temperatures that we had recently but hope someone here as a bit more information...

Many thanks in advance!

Cheers
Thomas

Hi.
Common sense really, with a very cold start gearbox lubrication can be minimal with just the input shaft rotating, it is above the oil level in the box and the thickened oil is harder to flow. Getting underway quickly will circulate the oil and promote a faster warm up.
One thing we also must remember it is now an offence to run a cars engine unless you are in traffic or repairing it, so no more running it because you are cold!

Really? Because that could be a problem with the bus I'm currently driving, it needs 10 mins to warm through & is almost impossible to change gear until things warm up a little.
Does this also mean that you have to turn the demisters on full without the engine running? That'll do the battery a power of good, especially as it'll already be suffering due to the cold!

whilst it is,there is scope for leeway

Thanks for all the replies!

I think the mystery is solved... This morning (-20 degrees!) I paid a bit more attention when starting the car and saw that there is another message beforehand and that says DPF cleaning in progress.

A quick look in the manual says that
"The warning light does not come on during every DPF
regeneration, but only when driving conditions require notification
to the driver.
"

So I guess the cold weather requires this notification.

Thomas,

The fact that the dpf clearing msg pops up on start up might indicate that it is getting clogged. This seems to be happening a lot with dpf diesels these days, especially in winter and when driven small distances/city driving mostly.

If your driving pattern fits that description, I'd recommend a thorough warm up and decent Italian tune up very soon. A good 20 mins. flat out with 3rd or higher gear will do the trick nicely :=)

Tazio,

Thanks for the info. My driving is mostly short distances. That's true. Guess I'll take it for a little drive in the countryside this weekend ;)

Cheers for that!

You're welcome mate! However, if I were you I'd not wait till weekend. Especially if the weather is about to stay the same. Do a bit heavy driving asap, might save you from walking... :=)

With a dualogic can you run it in a lower gear deliberately ? With my 6 speed manual box I just run it at 70 mph in 5th gear for 20 minutes on the motorway rather than the normal 6th gear and that equates to about 3000 revs which should be enough to clear out the DPF. Can you do the same with the dualogic ?

Yes, you can switch it to manual mode and then you decide what gear you want to be in. However, it will still override your decision if it thinks you're doing something stupid, eg. change into first gear when doing 100mph.

Anyway... I did listen and drove the car to work yesterday instead of taking the train and that seems to have cleared it out. No more messages showing. So thanks again for the advise! (y)
