My doblo indicators will not cancel, the indicator light is dim & the sound produced cannot be heard above engine noise. I am afraid that I will have an accident as people obviously believe that I am indicating. Fiat tell me that i must turn the wheel through 90 degrees when cornering to get the indicators to cancel. I have had six fiats before this one with no problems. Anyone else had this?

Same thing happens to my 18 month old Doblo - I spend half my time driving around with indicators merrily flashing. Warning light too small, sound inaudible.

In addition, there is a problem getting the indicators to stay on - sometimes everytime you let go of the stalk they flick off again. If you retry long enough and move the wheel they will eventually "catch". Not much fun while entering a roundabout... This happens at random.

just cancel them youself... doesnt take much effort... as for not going on... my sisters 106 does this... can be annoying... specialy seen as it started doing it a few times during my driving test...

i suppose you would wire a relay in the dash to the indicator bulbs, this'd make the desired clicking noise!

Met Cognac 99 Brava 100 HSX, wish it'd clean itself!

A bleeper wired in is a good solution. Fiat dealer fitted one for free for me in the first week of ownership, without it I could not tell the indicators were on in bright sunlight. (unless I looked straight at the warning light)

Having the same trouble with quiet indiators, I decided to go for this option. Bought a couple of bleepers & scotched them to the relevant wires - trouble is, when I apply the brakes, there is a faint bleeping noise if anopther light is on - so in reverse or whenever sides etc are lit, it's as though there's some crossover but the bleepers are definitely wired to indicator live & common neutral.
I'm now wondering about buying a relay with built in bleeper, just got to find where the original is hidden.

Fiat's response to this perennial question is to tell us how to indicate!

The fault lies with the design of the things. Worst, as has been said, is that they won't lock on when attempting to signal, particularly at roundabouts - a quick movement to the left - essential - results in a disengage which cannot be reversed. Absolutely infuriating.

If Fiat doesn't listen to people who use their cars how can they improve the product?

Every day the annoyance caused by these inaudible, erratic and maddening things attempts to do my head in.

COME ON FIAT!

I prefer them quiet. I'd rather they were completely silent.
When I used to drive buses in London the double deckers had completely silent indicators and they didn't self cancel either. You had to remember to switch them off. I got used to this and I prefer it this way.

Is there some way of removing the self-cancelling thingy? I presume there's some sort of peg on the steering column or something like that.

Like I said before, I think they are set up for right hand drive as you don't get the problem on roundabouts when going anti-clockwise.

The bus I drive is based on the ducatto - exactly the same problem.
Oddly enough, passengers just behind the driver can hear the loud clicking of the relay (but then again, the engine is rather loud).
I've had the beepers on for almost a year. At first, they sound very loud but over time, they seem to have quietened - they are taped in behind the panel in the boot (NSR) where all the wiring for the towbar went.

Are you still driving buses?
I started again recently. I'm driving coaches now. They've given me a Dennis Berkof to drive.
It's very easy to drive, like a car really, but it doesn't like to pull away in 2nd like the Volvos usually will. I end up short-shifting all the time to try to get to the higher gears as quickly as possible. I don't know if all Dennis' are like this.
I'm used to Bedfords and Leyland Tigers.
