verdict after Doblo being remapped!

Hi

even though i've not quite had the Doblo for 2 weeks i've already had it remapped. 1st & 2nd seemed nippy enough but the other gears seemed to run out of steam quite quickly.

I'm not really used to driving vans or anything that doesn't have much go so after after i's bought it i'd remapped it 4 days later!

Anyways, that was a week ago now & all i can say is that's it's a great improvement. 1st & 2nd are def even quicker & the rest of the gears are very much improved. It pulls a lot better & doesn't run out of steam as quick. Don't get me wrong, it's far from feeling "powerful" but there is a really good noticeable difference.

I'm also averaging 48mpg which i'm reeeeeeeally happy with. It had 49.1mpg as the average on Fri morning but after coming back from Liverpool late yesterday afternoon & getting stuck in loads of traffic it dropped to 48.5.

If anybody is considering a remap then i'd def go for it. Especially as they don't cost much these days

Craig

Re: verdict after Doblo being remapped!

thankfully mine doesn't have dpf. As far as i know only your engine & the 1.9 120bhp have it! If mine did have it I would've def removed it during the remap

Re: verdict after Doblo being remapped!

Had my 1.9 mjet 120 done today by Angel Autos. I've only had the car for a week but this is my fourth vehicle in a row I've had remapped. I removed the dpf at the same time as it seems these give trouble.
Major performance increase as expected, you do have to be careful of the clutch slip in most gears if you floor it with low revs but you get used to that.
In the past I've found economy goes up as it seems to be more efficient at getting up to speed. Really nice to drive now.
I changed the radio last week, back windows privacy tint is tomorrow, still looking for a way of upgrading the lights.

What sort of slipping motion are you getting? i get a judder in 3rd @ 30mph, 4th @ 40mph and finally 5th @ 50mph, juddering felt when accerating hard. and it is getting worse. it is the dual mass flywheel. it needs changing to a solid state one. (funds pending) very low revs but going for it.

also notice the judder when setting of.

Re: verdict after Doblo being remapped!

I get a marked judder in 1st and sometimes in 2nd if I'm not precise in dropping the clutch but I had this before the remap and assumed it was just a problem with this car (I've had a doblo before without the judder).
The clutch slip happens if I'm very harsh on the accelerator, eg today I was doing 60/65 in fifth, casually floored it, instead of changing down, and the revs just spun up and it slowly caught up with itself, just like it was an automatic. It will do this easily in most gears at lowish revs.
The flywheel noise I get is new for me, I sort of hear/feel a light "judder" coming from somewhere that persists over a much longer time period while accelerating hard. I haven't really had time to work out what makes it come and go as it does.
Angel Tuning for remapping (this is the third one they have done for me, a Ford I had was done by Vantuner) slightly confused however to get a receipt from Gama cars Ltd - a quick google shows Angel now owned by Gama.
Window tint done and looks good, used Somerset Auto Tints in Yeovil, highly recommended, they have done a previous vehicle, superb. It took all day however, it was his first doblo and the sliding windows were a b**tard.

Re: verdict after Doblo being remapped!

Well id gaurantee that a new clutch and a solid state flywheel would sort your problems. my dual mass flywheel is about dead, cant wait to get time at work on the ramp to take the box out.

i ust to get the slip 2 years ago and a new clutch did it, i only get the judder with the map on, if i take the map of it does not judder. at all. put it on and hey of ya go juddering, also i get alot of black smoke from unburnt fuel which i have nver been able to cure apart from atleast once a day i will literatly redline it until the smoke stops. i do notice if i am busy cruising and getting a good mpg of around 52-54 and do this for some distance maybe 40miles+ when i come even close to accelerating to climb a simple incline it smokes like mad and again the procedure to ''clear'' the pipes always works and keeps the smoke down.

as again only with the map on!!!

passed MOT but first score was 4.75, really bad. they did the same to clear the pipes.

1.75's then

Re: verdict after Doblo being remapped!

On my last Doblo (2002 1.9 remapped) the clutch lasted to 70,000. New clutch slipped exactly the same, sold it at 130,000 but no problems anywhere.
My new Doblo (2007 1.9mjet 120) only on 40000, I'll replace the flywheel as well as the clutch when it goes.
Black smoke from the remap ? suggests its a bit over the top or not set up properly.
I did take the opportunity of removing the dpf with my remap from Angels. If anyone else does this its quicker to just cut the box off and weld on a new tube. It took me about an hour beating the ceramic stuff out with a crowbar, total pain, especially hitting my hand with the hammer.

Re: verdict after Doblo being remapped!

yeh, def shouldn't be getting black smoke after remap if it's been doen properly. I remapped my vectra 2.2dti with 183k on the clock. It hardly smoked anyway & it doesn't didn't it make it smoke more after it was remapped

Unhappy Re: verdict after Doblo being remapped!

Well, after much reading & rolling of forum screens, I have decided our new 1.9 Multijet 120 is off for a re-map & DPF disposal. We've a '03 1.9 JTD Doblo & it absolutely runs rings around our recently purchased '08 Multijet. JTD averages 49mpg, the Multijet is just mastering 34mpg (). They both do urban multi drop +100 parcels per day & family duties. The JTD is a belter but showing age at 120,000 miles, so thought we'd try newer model. Seems buying 2nd hand DPF cars can leave you open to rapid learning curve on how to "Partially switch off" DPF faults. Now F.I.A.T can't detect DPF faults! So, can't help to accurately diagnose poor mpg. With this all in mind, I feel no other alternative than to re-map & remove DPF in a bid to salvage mpg.

Now, who here wants to help me explain all this to the Mrs?!
Will post results...... if car improves....... & marrage remains in-tact.
Hope you right actionman & grumph!

Re: verdict after Doblo being remapped!

34 mpg is rubbish, I've never got less than 44 mpg and that was before the remap. My old JTD did 52 like clockwork, my MJ does 48 mpg but I do thrash it a bit.
Don't forget you can get remaps specifically for economy.

As for the Mrs......breakfast in bed on Sunday morning might work
