Hi i have a doblo 2008 1.3 multijet diesle
if i don't use a fiat dealership to service the car and at a later date take it to a fiat dealer for a service will they some how make things difficult.
i bought the car at 3 years old from a hyundi dealer and have a very good local man that has always looked after my cars and i want to continue to use him but he has no resetting equipment so although he does a good job he cant disable warnings.
please advise
thanks john

Hi & Welcome here! Dealerships wont turn you away you are a source of income! However, Service agents need to be V.A.T. registered & use parts & fluids at least equivalent to or better than Manufacturers original equipment in terms of quality, or you can expect a little lack of enthusiasm from Fiat dealerships and / or FIAT group in terms of Warranty claims.

If your car is out of warranty then I wouldn't worry too much about not using Fiat parts or the dealership. We normally use our Local Bosch Garage and they always do a great job. As soon as the car is out of warranty that will be the first place we take it to for anywork.

Our car is still under warranty and while we didn't use the dealer we bought it from for its first service under our ownership, we made sure we used only Fiat parts and fluids so we didn't void the warranty. The dealer will void a warranty for non Fiat parts as soon as they see them.

If your car is still under warranty then I would check where its third year warranty is based as with ours, it can only be taken back to the dealer who originally sold it which is the one we bought it from. You should check the warranty has been transferred to you also. There is a form somewhere in the cars paperwork that you need to fill in and pay and admin fee to transfer it.

Generally, if you don't use a fiat dealership the result is:

lower bills and better workmanship.

there is some software available (http://www.fiatecuscan.net) that might be able to reset some sodes and/or service lights. Perhaps you could look into that in combination with your reliable mechanic.

Is the 'correct procedure' a case of changing the oil and filter in this case, or is there more to it?

Many thanks

Peter

The oil degradation counter needs to be reset with the service light.
