Congrats. If I was ever doubting my decision to get a Doblo (after reading of some common problems on here), hearing of someone replacing theirs with another is reassuring! Cheers, I hope it serves you well for many years.

Looks nice(y)

Sloper, remember this is a forum & it may seem the doblo is poor as you read through a lot of posts but what about the tens of thousands that have no issue every day. Many people only join the forum because they have a problem.

IMO the doblo is hugely under rated....I can get 5 adults in it, a big german shepherd and a freezer all at the same time! We average 53mpg & the turbo 1.9 engine can surprise a few people;) (especially if mapped).

They are good cars/vans/MPV's.....whatever they are:D

p.s. I have 2 other cars on the driveway but I always go for the doblo unless hte wife beat me too it!

Yes yes, I know :D ....most people only post on forums when they have a problem. After reading of so many problems though, it can start to niggle!

I've probably taken a risk on my Doblo you see.. I'm very impulsive I suppose. I've wanted a Doblo since they were first introduced but could never afford one until I found myself with some cash to blow last week. I only drove it a mile or so as there was no fuel in it but apart from the roll it felt ok and I just dropped a deposit on it right there. With hindsight, I should haver armed myself with more info on the things, but I've relied on the Doblo's good reputation. At just 90k miles, it's got loads of life left in it yet... but then I read of problems on this forum, and then I worry it's been clocked, etc etc.. Not only am I impulsive, I'm a worrier too :D

I was dubious of getting a Doblo to start with even though I was given it for nothing! I had some problems to sort out and even recently there was a noise from the gearbox, this was traced to the wrong oil in the gearbox (SAE90) and since replacing it the car is running superb and even returning 37mpg around town. This is on a 2002, 1,2 petrol on 107,000 miles!

looks tidy, what was wrong with her?

Sorry for the late reply, teaching gets crazy after Easter!

She does look tidy, I'd been using Autoglym waxes since buying her, two different waxes after every wash and every cosmetic issue resolved if necessary. You'd never have guessed that a brick hit the passenger sliding door on the motorway! (I'm pretty handy with bodywork damage)

Why did I part ex her?

She was getting a little long in the tooth, and about to cost me a packet.
  • The clutch was slipping under hard acceleration between 40-50mph, could have been DMF - I know it would have been pricey whatever it was.
  • Glow plugs needed doing (I'm just too lazy)
  • The rear brakes were making an awful clunk when releasing the brake pedal, something not quite right with the automatic tensioning system perhaps...
  • She was due for a second cambelt within 12 months.
  • Other than that, I'd been offered a good rate to refinance and extend the loan I'd used to buy the car so I figured I'd buy another!

If the new owner is on here, her name is Debbie and she loves a good blast on the motorway!

Well - the time comes to say goodbye to another Doblo. I haven't been on here much recently - an odd period of reliability from a FIAT!

I am moving to the SAAB fold, with a SAAB 9000 bought for just £520  on Monday. I don't need the Doblo after the 8th of May due to a new motability vehicle that my wife is getting. I plan to sell it to friends but if that doesn't work out it may well appear on here...

Thanks for everything if I'm not on again!
