Re: Flashing Mileage

No mate mine stil doing it , I was wondering if the doblo had been tampered with and the mileage altered. But no one seems to know if this flashing is a sign of this.

Re: Flashing Mileage

Ok this is an easy one, the reason this happens is because the battery has been disconnected and a procedure has to be carried out to reset all the ecus. Its called Proxi-alignment and is carried out using the Fiat Examiner. Basically all the internal clocks inside the ecus need to be reset, this way all the information being shared between ecus is not garbled by ecus msitiming exchanges of information.

Re: Flashing Mileage

Power supply problems have already been mentioned in this thread, however unless the original poster hasn't mentioned something/given the whole story I cant understand why proxy-alignment would need to be carried out.I have changed loads of doblo heater matrix's(cluster out/battery disconnected/dash out)but never needed to proxy align.Criminal if you have to visit dealer()because your battery went flat & needed proxy alignment!
Probably a cluster from another vehicle with different mileage

Re: Flashing Mileage

Took battery out of new doblo van yesterday & left on charge overnight, refitted this afternoon no problem! No proxy alignment required to be carried out.The only way 'proxy' would be required is if there was a 'software error' not just because battery disconnected.

Re: Flashing Mileage

Not true. I am a Dealer Expert Technician and I have seen this many times before, it depends if the internal ecu capacitors have fully discharged as to how long the car can last without it but flashing mileage reading is a definate indication proxi alignment is required. Proxi alignment should be carried out every time the battery is disconnected and every time an ecu is replaced or disconnected.

Re: Flashing Mileage

Then as a DET you would know 30 minutes is enough to discharge capacitors in any module, yet as I stated in my last post I left battery disconnected overnight.Do you carry out proxy alignment when you change a punto(188) ECU because nobody else does (which is why non Fiat garages buy & fit them themselves, just carry out the phonic wheel procedure) a fact told to myself by TeSeO.
In this particular case (doblo cluster) proxy alignment may have to be carried out due to a software/communication error not because battery has been disconnected.

Re: Flashing Mileage

Just like I say, if the ecu has been replaced/disconnected proxi alignment procedure HAS to be carried out. Sorry, thats the way it is. Proxi alignment will DEFINATELY cure this problem.

Re-read my post......

"In this particular case (doblo cluster) proxy alignment may have to be carried out due to a software/communication error not because battery has been disconnected"

Notice the bold part. Also I never mentioned ECU's (except the 188 punto example) it was battery disconnection we were talking about.

I respect the fact you are a DET but you have no idea who I am.

Re: Flashing Mileage

Don't want to butt in on your argument but how much would this proxy alignment cost me to sort my flashing mileage out?

Cool Re: Flashing Mileage

Job done on mine, needed it as Ive changed the clocks. All is now fine and im 30 quid lighter. It took ten minutes. They should have bent me over and reamed my arse while they were at it, it would have hurt less. It wont be long before they lock the bonnet and only fiat have the key!!! What choice do we have, Fiat examiner is now god. Oh well its not flashing anymore!?

Re: Flashing Mileage

30!!! .....for a 'literally' 3 minute job! Garage I mostly work at charges by every 0.1 (6 minutes) so you in theory should of been charged (assuming labour rate of 40p/hr) 4 +vat.Unfortunally it isn't like that, all depends how much you complain or if you have big flash car (cheap price so you come back...then get ripped off) or if your good looking etc.
