Hello everyone. I am new on here and desperate to solve this problem. I have an 05 1.9 Family TD. I recently had a new clutch fitted. The garage had to disconnect the battery and therefore the radio. When i bought the car 2 years ago there was no code with it. The garage i used are saying it is not their responsibility. I bought the car from the same garage. I can't use the radio as it needs a code. The garage are saying that if i pay them £30 they will get the code for me! Can't afford it as the clutch cost me £600. Am i being taken for a ride? Is there any way round this?:bang:

£30? For a few notes more you can buy a half decent stereo from Halfrauds & simply swap it out.

Perhaps this may be more helpful, Alfa's have the same ICE equipment as the Fiats, certainly my GT V6 had the same unit as the Doblo

You need to provide the serial numbers on the unit so you will have to pull it out.

Cheers

Stuart

I reckon someone's been at it already in the past - hence the missing code.
We owned an astra with a radio that had been recoded 6 times. We bought it at 3y/o and it had to be done then by the dealer then 6 months later we had the car to a radio specialist as it was blowing fuses - amp ariel was leaking. They had the radio out & told us about the previous 6 recodings.
Whilst you might get a code from those serial numbers, it might not be the last code that was put on the machine.
Good luck

Thank you everyone for help. I ended up talking to trading standards and was given an act to quote to the garage. It worked and they agreed to pay for a chap to sort it for me. Apparently because they hadn't asked me first if i had the code or would mind paying if it was needed then it was their fault. All sorted now and back to singing along much to my sons annoyance! :slayer:
