my turbos knacked.. pipe from the turbo pneumatic actuator got split in half some how (probably due to judder from those crap Dual mass flywheels)..that could have caused various pressure problems..and now can see oil seep from turbo..intercooler to engine pipe is coated with oil ..And the dobby is a bit slower.

so it is the turbo for sure and am searching for a cheap S/H one..

I see the JTD is used on lots of cars Saabs, alfa, opel etc..etc.. If anybody knows if i can use scrap turbo from another motor...fiat or anything else..drop us a reply.

thanks

Problem solved i reckon. I found full part numbers stamped on the turbo.

If anybody has had any practical problem (or success) swapping turbo from another JTD let us know.

Thanks

Im answering my own question here but might as well add to the knowledge base, seeing as the breaker yards are completely at the rip for dobo turbos..asking nearly the price of a recon. for a 90,000 mile unit they wanted £275 plus post....

"I wont lie its high miles...but theyre high prices because all the Taxis want em mate, and the recons dont get fixed properly !!"

The doblo turbo up to 2005 is turbo part 55191595 /46756155 /

http://eper.fiatforum.com/eper/navi...INT_MODE=0&EPER_CAT=SP&GUI_LANG=3&WINDOW_ID=0

and so is alfa 147 in 74kw form

the alfa seem to be plentiful in breakers and hopefully wont hold me to ransom on an old turbo unit. :slayer:

Am going to exhaust the Eper search for all compatible models (and post results here) before i start asking the breaker yards for prices...widest possible net to start with kind of thing..then mass emails to all the breakers.

LAST ONE

Fiat brava in 1910 JTD CF2 (105 CV) also uses the same unit..but not a lot of these cars in breakers.

A complete list of all cars which use this turbo unit...its a Garret GT1444S..

http://www.turbo-product.com/Garrett/GT1444S.ASP

but make sure to check with breakers it has any of the following codes stamped on it.

GT1444S 708847-0001 46756155 and the updated unit (which still fits) 708847-0002 55191595

Hi,what pipe is split, the rubber one? if so shorten it and refit it,I've seen loads with oil around hoses and still run ok and gone on for ages, unless leaking badly, should still run ok.Have fitted Punto turbo on Doblo and was ok,but beware altough these turbos may fit,you may have to make up pipes to intercooler as outlets often come in different places,I had to with Punto turbo. Also check actuator operation,as I think from memorary some work on boost and some on vaccuum and your boost control system will have to match, fitted a turbo a few years back off a multipla and couldn't get it to work correctly and then realised the above was the problem.Hope this helps and good luck,John.

I did shorten and refit last summer. Maybe the oil I am seeing in the pipes is old from the damage done last summer. But oil coming out a turbo means its has a problem and is going to need replaced. Also my MOT has just failed on emissions on opacity of smoke under a light. It could be the Oil from last summer messed up the EGR...but if oil is gettng spun into the engine from a defective turbo that could also explain the failure.

Power does seem down..but hard to tell as my doblo is a campervan so heavy.

Regarding other turbos.. there is no direct part replacement from a punto. The HP of the Multipla and Stilo on this replacement list also do not match up with any known UK models..which could explain whey they are not listed as Garret GT1444S in the ePER catalouge (see above).

Good to know that other turbos can be made to fit. they are probably similar but not Garret GT1444S which might explain the fitting problems.

Anyway thanks to above list i have been able to email 30 ebay breakers alfas, bravas and doblos in one go and provide the model numbers..so hopefully may get one correct unit at price more fitting an aged turbo.

Sorry to hi-jack but is the 1999 156 2.4 JTD turbo the same as the 1.9JTD turbo

Am not sure. the links above lead to all the info on alfa and fiat turbos. I went through every model so whatever is up there is it basically for swapping on the 1.9JTD. Dont know about other doblo turbo versions though.
