Hi all ,first thread on here so here go's,I have jtd 1900 and a radio problem, when I got the doblo the radio used to turn on by its self when you opened the door or in the night( by its self). So I had one fiitted and
now it will not work untill you swich ignition on, but the settings are gone, before you could turn it on or off with out it on.Some help would
nice on this problem,ta.. Andy:bang:

Firstly what make of radio is it? All radios now have two supply feeds one permanent and the other switched from the ignition switch, these leads on your radio will usually be red & yellow.
What I have found is that the corresponding leads from the connector on the Doblo are not to the correct IEC standard and are reversed, so the set will be OK when the ignition is on but the memory feed is lost when you switch off the ignition. Either reverse the red and yellow leads on the set or the corresponding connections in the cars connector.

Hi,ta for that, the radio is a halfords Sendai, nice one from down by 60%
and they fitted it so I'm going back to them.Thats good to find that fiat
don't wire them up right as to IEC standard:mad: any way much thanks
for that,,,,,,,,,,,,,,cheers,,Andy K

Wrong, there is a standard, and all manufacturers should adhere to it. Unfortunately some don't but of course that is one reason I repaired so many blown aftermarket ICE when I had my shop!

ISO Standard not IEC (typo) Thanks T14086

All the decent ICE manufacturers do it the recommended way with connections for electric aerial, illumination, permanent +B & switched feed ETC the same. You will see that the speaker socket is always correct namely the inner 4 connections for front left and right speakers and the outer connections for the corresponding rear speakers.

The Radio & TV trade made some harsh noises to the car manufacturers about 15 years ago when some went through a period of swapping the switched positive with ground, one reason many sets were ruined, some makers adhered to the recommended layout others didn't, it often took a model change though to come into line!

Generally cars with Sony, Panasonic & JVC head units as standard are fine, obscure sets fitted by Ford and others have non standard pinouts, but who knows is it the car manufacturer or the ICE supplier that is holding the dice?
