Hi guy's , my 2001 doblo 1.9 diesel cargo, has developed a bad stutter, when sitting steady at 40/50 mph it feels as if its drawing back as if it was lack of fuel, I removed the inlet pipe from the fuel filter and the filter does not seem to be full, the van ticks over fine, any idea's, I'm at a loss.:bang:

Dont assume it's the injector pump and dont let anyone talk you into changing it as they are eyewateringly expensive and it may not need changing. Do some quick checks yourself before taking it to a garage. The 1.9d has no primary pump and relies upon the Lucas injection pump to draw fuel from the tank. When temperatures drop to freezing or below the pump can struggle to pull diesel especially if there is any crud build up on the in-tank pick up screen.
Take off the inlet pipe on the top of the filter (the pipe from the tank) and blow back into it until you hear the fuel bubbling in the tank. When you've done that for a minute or so just start sucking until the line "primes" with fresh diesel. Any crud should be dis-lodged long enough for you to take the car out and prove/eliminate that possibility. Another quick way to prove the injector pump is ok is to place a 5L container of diesel under the bonnet with the diesel suction and return pipes straight into the container (maybe put some injector cleaner in the container). Make sure the container is secure and take the car for a spin up to the speeds that have caused the car to stutter. If it runs ok it proves the pump is ok and you can start looking for a less costly fix i.e. perhaps an air leak.

Back again, bad news, after two whole days of trouble free running, with egr valve blanked the problem re appeared, lost the plot and admitted defeat, took the van to paterson diesel in cowdenbeath, where the young lad started the van took a look under the hood and told me, its the actuators common problem bring it in on Tuesday, and we will sort it, will post aain when van comes back, here's hoping :p

Got the van back this afternoon, perfect, :)(y):worship:actuators, fitting kit, labour and v.a.t. came to £450.00, van now runs better than it ever did since I bought it, bit pricey but well worth it.
