can any one help me

My Cargo's a 1.9d (non turbo) and it does not like 4th gear at 30mph so I take it to the mid/upper 30s in third. It used to be very lumpy at all speeds but I have improved the situation somewhat by blanking off the EGR valve on the outlet side. It certainly runs better but not brilliant although it has recently developed another fault - it starts ok cold but will not tick over until it is well warmed up and then it's ok for the rest of the day. I just cannot get a decent period of hassle free running with this van and it occurs to me that the 1.9d power unit is just simply a very fickle and/or unreliable unit in many respects.

I think its the same on every 1.9D, although since it was serviced and i found a crack in the intake pipe and fixed that it doesn't do it as much. It's as if there isn't enough torque at that speed/rpm and the van struggles to pull efficiently. I usually just change gear get it to around 40 mph then change to 4th then 5th. 5th gear is great, mine pulls brilliantly in 5th.

Hi,
Yes it's a ecu fault me thinks , because it's only a van Fiat never bothered to do a ecu upgrade when doing a service at the main dealers.

derek
