Just bought a dobby & one of the common faults (back door not opening) is easy fixed by drilling a hole in the broken internal latch (ya know were it sheers off) & inserting a roll pin with a little adhesive to keep it firmly in place.

But if you apply a little pressure no the door when opening it this will take the strain off the linkage & prolong the life of it.

That is until some big numpty grabs the handle & yanks it like his todger!

If anybody can help me with the other tread I have on instrument panel that'd be great. Thank god for the fiatfourm!

when i take out the screws on my back door panel the panel slides around revealing a silver compartment, is this where the plunger is ?i am deermined to lubricate it myself rather than give the garage £20

seems no one has the info,i have just heard of another taxi driver who sorted the problem himself he is on holiday just now but i will ask him the details and post them when he gets back

If your back door won't open from the outside by pulling on the handle then it's highly unlikely oiling it up will cure it. The internal latch catch has sheered off.

When you take off the internal handle & door card... Pop a torch inside & look up towards the mechanism while pulling on the external handle, then you will see where the small "lugg" has broken off. Just below the remainder of the lugg I drilled a hole & incerted a small roll pin tightly in place for the internal handle latch to catch onto & open the body toungs. I was able to drill it without taking it out using a flexy drill tool so handy enough fix.

Sorry I never though of taking photos:eek:

But for those with doors working fine just apply a little pressure & it'll make it easier for the latch to pull the door toungs out of the body catches.
