Hi all.

Bit of a mad one here. I just bought a doblo last night on a bit of a whim as it was cheap. The head was cracked and the owner decided he would just put a new engine in it but he never did and threw away the old engine. So I have a van with no engine and a load of bits in the back and i dont know where to start. Do i have any problems with ecu's or anything to watch out for. any advice would be great at what to look out for.

Well i have a stilo mw on a 04 plate with a jtd engine which was re-engined with a jtd out of a 52 plate stilo and it was a straight swap BUT use your existing engine loom and not one if any which comes with the engine, But i was lucky as i got a engine,box turbo etc basicly the whole lot from ebay for 550 quid. Oh and the ecu was fine too.
Have you a gearbox, drive shafts etc.

Same engine code mate. Check your local dealers or might even be worth going around some scrap yards?

Well have an update. the plate with the engine number was missing so after some searching found it was a straight diesel and that the engin code was most likely to be 223a6000 so i eventually found an engine with all the bits still on it. ill let you know how i get on

Ok haven't quite got around to fitting it yet as waiting for a timing belt and a clutch to arrive. Just one or two questions. Will I have to get my fiat dealer to reprogram the injector pump or anything like that. Also. How many variations of driveshafts would there be on this model. The cv joint is missing on my drives and ones from the engine look different so a bit concerned.

Any help guys?

Should be just plug and play for the ecu, was on my stilo so cant see the doblo being any different. As for driveshafts im sorry but havent a clue. I guess you could try fitting them or maybe get a pair from ebay for a 1.9 doblo and if they are the same as you have the resell them.

OK engine in and starting. the driveshaft issue was that i had been given the wrong gearbox. duh. so got another one and sorted it. engine starts and runs although still tidying the last few bits up so have not driven it. i have an engine light staying on but i also have the glow plug light flashing. also when i rev it it hunts as it comes back down the revs. any ideas.....
