Anyone help me please - I have a 2002 Fiat Doblo 1.9Diesel van with 95000 miles. Sometimes when I am driving the engine starts revving erratically up and down then stops - it is getting more frequent. It usually happens when the temperature gauge isn't reading anything although I am not sure if the two are connected. The temperature gauge works sometimes and others it starts moving then goes back down to zero. The air blows hot out of the vents I don't want to be driving if I am doing damage when this happens. Can't afford putting into a garage and want to try and sort it myself. It has been suggested it could be one of the sensors or a vacuum leak - anyone experienced this and sorted it - please please help me

try changing fuel filter and checking engine earth lead

my advice....1.9D (non-turbo) with lucas epic system, sell it.

Need garage to see its the dreaded rotor sensors in the pump however before hand check vacuum pipes etc

one place i have used for VP44 pumps is DBT he also does lucas cav etc

Never used them, http://www.featherdieselservices.co.uk/ are only company who have been 100% with repairing pumps however still expensive. Personally trade in for turbo version or new fiorino if your budget stretches that far.
