Could anyone advise me if the 1.3 Multijet has a timing chain or is it a belt? I don't have a Doblo Multijet but I do have a 2004 Vauxhall Combo 1.3 CDTi which I'm told has the same engine. I will be driving the van to Austria next month and intended to change the belt before I went. If it's a chain I don't need to worry, hopefully.

Hi is is my first reply . I was just looking for something else but. Thought I would at my little bit of knowledge . I've had a few of the Vauxhall engines that are alike and I can tell you from 3 experiences that the timing chains DO need replacing as they stretch and jump a tooth and cause unspoken damage. I would not chance it sorry to say good luck anyway

Hi and welcome sabbo :)

Ive got an MJ punto.

Regular oil changes throughout its 90k life.

Not a QUIET engine.. but does ok.

What mileages have you got to before the failures?
I know there are no guarantees ;)

Somewhere between 60..and 260 seems normal ..

Hi buddy I usually do 4-5 oil chNges a year not a lot of mileage but they can jump at around 100,000 at the moment I've got 102,000 on a fiat 500 1.4 multijet and I'm kaking it
