Hi, my dads friend has got a doblo jtd and he is concerned that he is only getting 14000 miles out of a set of tyres. Is this a normal wear rate?

Depends on how you drive. Also types of tyre.

Soft Compound stick to the road better but wear out quicker.
Hard Compound do not stick as well but last longer, but if you don;t have a fast car then use Hard Compound. Look at www.mytyres.com for advice on this.

My car is front wheel drive 150BHP and I go through soft compound every 9,000 miles.

It's all in the way you drive, set of slowly, slower round the corners, never turn the wheel when stationary.

Only get about 8000 miles out of the OEM fronts on my JTD. The families other Doblo has got 12000 and the tyres are still going strong.

Must remember to stop using the right foot and trying to pretend it's a sports van :)

Hi
I managed to stretch 30k out of my first tyres the standard Dunlops - they must have been made out of plastic - they had no grip but they lasted despite my best attempts. They probably should have been changed at 25k or so, but I was too busy. They new Uniroyals are on for about 9k and still look like new, they are harder to unstick yippie!!

Tried various brands so far, and they all do 7,500 miles, (42k so far) on the front of my JTD, mostly town miles as a Taxi.

Worst Tyre wear I have ever seen, just as well the motor was so cheap, and it returns a constant 43 mpg.

just abit of advice!!!!

my mom's bf owns a doblo and works at fiat' he say's the best way to get the best perfomance out of you tyres is to buy the comercial tyre's for the doblo van!!!!

he is getting 30k plus out of his tyres so far (y)

hope this helps you

regards amy x

You'll need to fit commercial vehicle tyres because of the vehicle weight (load index?). The standard tyres can't handle it and have a very short life.

Because the Doblo's are used in Van form too, the vans use commercial tyres and don't suffer the same complaints as the family people carrier version.

Next time you get tyres, ask for commercial tyres for it.
