every now and again when i start the doblo cargo 2006 1.3 ,the glow plug light flashes for about 15 seconds after starting, then goes off on its own.any idea's what it could be.

funny that , I get the flashing light when it is cold ....and my ducato doesn't have glow plugs !

you can check which on by disconnecting each in turn, using a multimeter each should read about 1ohm

this is measured from tip to body

Although they are slightly pricey (£20 /set), I'd replace the lot. If they all went in at the same time, chances are if one is dodgy, the rest might not be far behind.
That said, you could be chucking perfectly serviceable plugs but while you've got your head under the bonnet and the sake of a fewe quid...
And it could save you from a morning's grief when the weather really gets cold.

My light has been flashing in this way for just over 18 months. We have had some COLD winters and this morning it started ok!

(So cold today that even my bottle of winter screenwash had frozen in the footwell!)

easiest glow plugs you'll ever change on these engines(y)
Not like the 1.9 D then which were just incredibly difficult to do due to space issues well two were, two were easy.

Yeah definately needs new glow plugs mine was doing exactly same and now has new NGK ones and is fine.

Just had mine replaced (doblo cargo1.9) exept one that was stuck but it was working and the light still flashes the mecanic said it is the relay that can also cause this light to go on. A new one will be about £90 but you could get one from the scrappies

how to know which glow plugs fit my fiat doblo 1.3 multijet ,2005 coz they all different sizes

mines been flashing since i bought the van in Nov last year. It starts every time, sometimes just takes a couple of seconds more when it's really cold.

I just haven't got around to buying new plugs yet

I lasted one and a half years with the coil flashing then when cold starting got difficult I got new plugs. Six weeks later it was bad as ever on cold mornings and the light came on twenty seconds after starting for about thirty seconds. They (independent) checked the new plugs and said they were okay, then I replaced the electronic contol module, no change, then I had Fiat do diagnostics, no result - maybe ECU they said :eek::eek:, then I went to Fiat again for a fuller diagnostic check, because the head tech wasn't there the first time , and I learnt from their more intensive diagnostic that one of the new plugs was in fact faulty - different resistance. Hooray! The other garage replaced them immediately and kindly gave me a loan car (nice people) and now all seems well. All this happened over about eight weeks. At least the coil light goes out now and it starts in the cold, or cool as we are having now.

I hope it is fixed but very cold nights will be the proving...
Cars eh ;)

I had this problem too. Conector on the glow plug 3 was loose, and the ECU showed like a glow plug faliure! :))

I have a Doblo with faulty glow plug no 3 stuck put. Tried many times but mechanic finally gave up saying too risky to force remove. Any solutions.

easisest check for glow plugs is to use a multimeter that checks resistance between tip and body no more than one ohm

no less than 0.8 ohms usually

the easiest way is to use a test lamp, that way you don't need to remove the glow plug. You just put the clamp end on the pos battery terminal then put the other end on the end of the glow plug.

If it doesn't light the lamp it's buggered

it wont give you a resistance reading that activates the glow timer light to flash

the timer reads the resistance of plugs

ok so it won't activate the glow plug light on the dash bit it's still the easiest way to check the actual glow plug
