Hi all,

Great forum you have here, been reading through the forum posts with interest.

I have a Doblo 1.3 Multijet van, great little thing, outstanding value for money.

However, I have a serious lower back pain problem and the standard seats just aren't doing me any favours at all.

So, my questions are thus :-

  1. Does the Doblo van share seat subframes with any other Fiat model (So I can get some to customise)
  2. I've searched but no-one else seems have changed the seats in the Van/cargo, has anyone done this but not come forward yet?
  3. Any other thoughts or comments on fitting what could potentially be larger seats? Bulkhead fouling issues etc?
Thanks for looking!

Possibly the reason is that nobody has a problem with the seats?

I have a bad back, sometimes, and find the Doblo seats very supportive. In fact the Doblo is one of the most comfortable cars I have owned, possibly, all considered, THE most comfortable. What I do notice is that sometimes people try to sit as if they are in a normal car, with the backrest laid back. This is not how the seats should be set and the relationship between pedals, wheel and seat demands a different approach. Think upright, like a kitchen chair, and fairly close to the pedals. Like this you should be able to get comfy.

Or: an aftermarket seat back insert might help?

Having said all that, the seat, or more accurately its relationship to the other controls, is even better in the Qubo. Here the wheel extends if I remember rightly.

P.S. Does the seat in the van have lift adjustment? I have the estate version and this does, and I have it set high. Perhaps you need the whole adjustable seat gubbins, from a scrappy possibly. Worth a try?

Thanks for the reply :)
No it doesn't have height adjustment, this would be a definite bonus if it had as I could get my hips above my knees..

Also, I can't recline the seat any more due to the metal bulkhead.

The main problem is lateral support, as soon as I go around a corner, even at very low speeds (read that as snail pace), my lower back is unsupported and shifts causing pain throughout the day.

I think I'll take one of the Recaro's out of my R and one of the seats out of dobby and see how far apart they are in terms of fitment..

I have the seat as high as it goes with back rest as foward as possible for max support if a little uncomfortable at first but it makes you sit upright which as we know is good for back pain. I find the doblo more comftable (in detering back pain) that any other car I have had.
