I'll take a pic of dobin at the weekend, yeah big hifi fan got 300 watt chord amps and a chord qbd76! I think music is worth it and hifi gear lasts a lot longer than cars. Incidently kwik fit has good deals on tyres if you book online

Mine are the 14 inchers that it came with, and the tyres are the original spec too, and they do just fine. I mean, they go round, carry thick rubber that cushions them from the worst potholes, and generally keep the car off the ground. What else are wheels supposed to do?

I don't like large wheels on cars that aren't designed to carry them; they look wrong, ride harshly, and generally cost more money for a worse outcome. Silly really.

The new Doblo apparently has 16" wheels, and appropriate rubber. It reportedly rides and handles very well indeed, but then it has a completely new suspension system too. My feeling is that Fiat didn't spend a lot of development time and money optimizing the suspension system just to have us come along and muck it up.

The MarkII Doblos with 15" wheels also ride higher and have slightly modified springing.

prob 16's as dont think going from 14 to 15 would make alot of difference. I just feel as if 14's are too small and the car cry's out for larger wheels.

cool...i have no heard of chord to be honest, my hifi days were a little while ago with the likes of quad, ariston, linn etc...and although not the best I loved the designs of B&O from years ago.

Mine came with 15" alloys so that's what I'm sticking to. I have to admit, the car does rather look out of proportion with 15s on such a large vehicle but I don't have any problems.

Wouldn't there be problems associated with putting larger wheels on - I'm thinking how the powertrain is set up and, more importantly, how the speedo is calibrated?

With a 14" diameter, a wheel has a circumference of 43.98"

Uprate this to a 16" and the circ changes to 50.26"
So for each revolution of the wheel, the car travels an additional 6", that's bound to throw the speedo out?
And what about the steering geometry? Again, that's all set up for 14s.

(and for the HiFi buffs, back in the day I had a Linn turntable - Sonndeck with the accompanying tonearm wired into some big old Grundig valve amp and a pair of Castle speakers.
Eventually ditched Linn and went to Dual (the 505/2 deluxe), well I was short of cash ! before finally settling down with an Aries Scout turntable partnered with a JMW arm (I got lucky with a guy who was selling everything to move back to the states).
Glad to say that the Grundig amp is still powering out the tunes - although you have to book time on it about a week in advance to give it time to warm up :D.
iPods etc are OK if you like sterile/clinical music but if you want to feel the music, you can't beat vinyl being played through a half-decent system.

Hi Sludge, is that really your photo? I paid £400 squid for a second hand Sonndeck and year I agree its way more dynamic/lively than low sample rate ipods.

Not a pic of me, supposedly some woman showing her midriff (below her frock

From memory, I paid best part of a grand for the Linn TT plus arm - 2nd hand. The dual was around £200 new and the Aeries/JMW combo was about £500 2nd hand.
I do keep wondering about flogging the gear then I put on a piece of vinyl & reminisce as the diamond finds its way into the groove & the cart bounces around like a dinghy in a tsunami :D & that ever so familiar sound of bacon frying in the pan - then it begins "no-one would have believed..." (my all time fave pounding out from the castles.)
