Hope someone can offer some advice.

Recently bought an 09 doblo 1.9 multijet 120 but it has starting behaving weirdly. It intermitantly starts running rough and it needs revving to stop the engine cutting out. When its doing this i have noticed a burning smell in the engine bay but cant see anything.

I was driving it the other day and the engine just cut out without warning.

There are no warning lights showing up although I'm sure the yellow triangle with the ! mark flash up quickly once. The dealership say unless I can recreate the fault for them they wont be able to find the fault which is difficult when it does it randomly. It's booked in anyway but just hope someone might have any suggestions.

Thanks Matt

It wqas serviced before I bought it or at least they said it was. I'm not convinced as I had toi take it back to have all the levels topped up.

Will check it out thanks!

I'd be tempted to take it to a main dealer or a reputable independent. If your garage can't fix it it may be they just don't know Fiats, or Diesels?

Hi

I live in South Africa and I've never seen a Doblo but I own a Palio. Recently I had a similar problem. It turned out to be the magnetic timing pick-up on the front engine pulley. It cost about R300 ($30) to buy and it took ten minutes to replace. you might have the same problem.

It has the DPF which seems okay as the light goes out.

Its going to the main dealer tomorrow although they called me again today to quiz me on the fault.

I did find out that if a fault is picked up it is stored for up to 30 engine starts. I wish they had told me that earlier as I would have taken it in sooner as I tend to do lots of short trips.

Lets see what Fiat say tomorrow.
