Posts: 25 Thanks: 1 Trader Rating: 0 ![]() | Engine Management Light/ Lack of Power Hi all If I can ask for your advice please. I have a 105 Multijet engine, with 37000 on the clock. I have only had the car for 2.5 months and so far had the indicator switch and brake pads have been replaced – both under warranty. After not using the car for a week, this morning we turned the car on and the engine management warning light has stayed on. I took it for a quick spin round the block. Basically there is definitely a lack of power. It is almost as though the turbo isn’t doing anything. The car has been booked to go into the garage next week. Does anybody have any ideas please? An important question – is the car ok to drive to the garage – it is about 12 miles away? Many thanks.

The car has been in today and has now been plugged in and diagnosed by a non fiat technical specialist as a cooling fan relay fault. I was a little bit iffy about the diagnosis being done by a non Fiat garage, but as it is under warranty I have to accept that this specialist is good at their job. I just wanted to confirm – would this type of fault result in the symptoms I have – i.e. engine management light on, and lack of power? Many thanks.

![]() | Re: Engine Management Light/ Lack of Power Sounds more like a DPF problem. Get the garage to run a cleaning cycle. It's not covered under the warranty but it shouldn't cost more than about £30. BTW, the indicator switch problem is a common fault on all Doblos. If it plays up again and you can't be bothered taking it back to the dealer, just pull back the rubber cover at the base of the stalk and give it quick squirt of WD40 and it'll work fine.

Posts: 25 Thanks: 1 Trader Rating: 0 ![]() | Re: Engine Management Light/ Lack of Power Hi Rich Thanks for the advice but one thing I won't be having trouble with is the dpf!! ![]() Having got fed up of the dpf causing issues on a 406, I swapped it in for this Doblo. One of the first things I checked is that there was no DPF on it. I insisted the garage double checked. Also to be double sure I bought the 105 rather than 120. I do a lot of 3 mile journeys and a DPF is a bit of a pain in those circumstances. I even avoided using the 406 for my holidays last year because when I used it the year before the DPF light came on saying it needed a run.....which is a bit difficult round the Welsh coastline! Back to the Dobbie I am pleased to say that the indicator switch was done under warranty, as were the brakes, and as the cooling fan relay will be. I took out a 36 month warranty when I bought the Doblo, which gives a great level of cover. I just hope I don't have to use the warranty too much... ![]() On the plus side, I really like the Doblo, and the economy is great. 44 mpg average, and 60.8 on a run to Wales 2 weeks ago. Well unfortunately the replacement part didn’t solve the problem, and the independent diagnostic company could not clear the fault. In the end the Doblo was taken to the Fiat garage, and they tracked the issue to a broken wire on/from the ECU. Wire repaired, fault cleared and the car is now (after 3 weeks) back with us again. It is a shame the warranty people used an independent first, as they could have saved me 2 weeks without the car, and themselves some money, by getting the Fiat to have a look. All said and done, it hasn’t cost me anything and I am pleased it is resolved.
