Can you give me an update on what happen to your doblo, i have the same vehicle as you 57 plate with 47k on the clock and the exact same problem happen to me today. The vehicle has just run out of warranty so I'm a bit stuck help please!!!

Hi judging by your symptoms described its called deiseling, this is when at high revs the engine sucks up the oil from the sump into the combustion chamber to run on instead of deisel, not sure why but usually worn piston rings.Maybe with the engine being full of deisel the pump forced the oil up ,not sure,i saw this happen on an old peugeot years ago and if you hadnt stalled it would have caused major damage.Look on www.wisegeek.com/what-is-deiseling for a better explanation.Idont know how old your mechanic freind is but if he is less than 60 he wont have heard of this, usually it mainly petrol engines.Let the forum know how you get on .
Regards from France Mr B
