got called out to work this morning 20 mins down road to workshop temp not moved as i was freezing, got loaded up with tools ect, decided to see if any water was in or if just running low, lifted bonnet to find header tank fill with thick black engine oil, started to undo the cap an it started to just flow out WTF????? looked at dipstick an no oil in engine, what is going on i know it needs to go garage for sure now but what could made this happen? cheers curt p.s its a 1.3 multijet......

yeah looking that way, just got back from garage an the oil is everywhere, heater matrix, the whole water system guy said about £1000+ he said its not gasket at fault but oil cooler?? who knows..........

Ah thats not sooo bad. It must be a oil to water cooler but assuming its a separate unit youve got off lightly compared to oil and water mixing in the engine. Makes sense actually cos with a blown head gasket normally you get water in the oil emulsifying and water isn't good for bearings. Oil in the water is much better, sort of.

yeah looking a little better now got all parts picked up this morning along with 40lts of degreaser an left all to soak. price on oil cooler was bit over top £200+vat for something the size of a can of sardines with 4 holes in it, just waiting for same thing to go on the other van now.. oh the joy
